“Best Holiday Inn Express That I've Been To”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2009

This was the last hotel that our family stayed at during our vacation and it was the perfect end to a great vacation. It was the nicest Holiday Inn Express that I have ever stayed in. The continental breakfast was good, the staff was friendly, and the pool area was very clean. Although our children were too young to take advantage of them (ages 3 & 2), there was a miniature full court BB court outside and a game room overlooking the pool with a great selection of games to keep teenagers occupied. We would definitely stay there again if the opportunity presents itself.

We recently stayed 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Express with our 2 1/2 year old. We were very happy to find that the hotel lived up to all of the positive reviews listed here. I am a bit of a hotel germ-a-phobe and felt very comfortable staying at this hotel. They no longer use the traditional bedspread on the bed to go along with a "cleaner" environment. There is a thin, down comfortor which is sandwiched between two fresh smelling sheets. Oh what a wonderful site!! :) We actually booked a summer package which included some events in both Holland and Saugatuck and feel that we received a great deal- especially with a small child. The packages are running through Labor Day weekend and can be found at hollandattractions.com. We had a great time!

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend away. We thought it was an excellent hotel. The rooms were spotless and well maintained. The hotel itself was very clean, also. The front desk staff were all very friendly and willing to help with anything. The Continental breakfast was great and well stocked. The first morning they had hot scrambled eggs and the second morning they had ready-made omelets. The breakfast staff was friendly, also. We didn't use the pool or hot tub, but they seemed clean. We had a jacuzzi in our room. It was clean and in working order. I would definitely recommend it and would stay here again.

My husband, my 16 year old niece and I recently spent 3 nights at this Holiday Inn Express in Holland Michigan. The entire experience from start to finish was nothing but excellent!

The hotel is pretty and painted in bright Victorian-type colors. The common areas (lobby, game room, breakfast area, fitness and pool area, etc) are spacious, attractive and clean. Check in was a breeze! The front desk personnel were way beyond friendly and accommodating. Because this was our first visit to Saugatuck, Holland and Lake Michigan, the staff provided us with tons of helpful local information, including super places to view spectacular sunsets and two great places to dine (which were both superb). Check out was also smoothe and uneventful...no problems with our bill.

My husband and I booked one room with two queen size beds and the room was rather large. The room was spotless with comfortable bedding and pillows. Everything was above par in the room (television, lighting, air conditioning, small fridge), etc. The bathroom was spacious and spotless...also loaded with much appreciated toiletries (soap, shampoo, lotion), etc. We never had a problem with requests, as any requests for privacy, extra towels, service, etc were honored. The shower was great with a high pressure shower head and lots of hot water!

Another HUGE plus for us was the LARGE and deep indoor pool (over 5 feet in some areas), which we utilized on 3 nights! Although per usual for a Holiday Inn, on one occasion there were loads of kids in the pool; however we soon utilized the pool around "early dinner time" say 5:00-7:00 pm and we practically had the entire pool to ourselves! Another plus...the hot tub (which was fun and clean enough for a hot tub) and the SAUNA! How shocked we were to see a spa-sized, super clean sauna just off the pool area...great relaxation and loads of fun for us!

Parking at the hotel was ample and well lit at night, many "chain" stores line the area for convenience (CVS, Walgreens, 7-11, package stores, Target, etc), the hotel is easily accessed off the main highway...many many pluses! One final note, while the breakfast buffet (which was included with the room price) was way beyond adequate, WELL STOCKED and included the usual hotel breakfast buffet fare (cereal, eggs, toast, pastries, yogurt, juices, fruit, milk, coffee, bagels, cheeses, etc, etc), the breakfast area did get EXTREMELY CROWDED each morning, leaving many people without seating. Without exaggeration, I would say there were at once over 100 people at the buffet area on the Saturday morning of our stay! We must have hit the breakfast "rush," but I just gave up trying to battle others for Cheerios, grabbed the first available seat and drank black coffee.

I imagine the hotel cannot control the flow or "rush" for breakfast. Lots of unruly, poorly mannered kids grabbing at breakfast stuff (not the hotel's fault) was (sadly) the norm on that Saturday morning. Aside from this minor inconvenience, our stay was great! Without hesitation, my husband and I would definitely stay at the Holiday Inn Express Holland if we ever again travel to the area.

We stayed here 2 nights at the conclusion of our vacation in Michigan.
We travelled with our children and my parents.

Pros
- Spacious, clean rooms
- Fridge and microwave included in rooms (bring your popcorn)
- Wondeful free breakfast - eggs, bacon/sausage, and the best cinnamon rolls
- Large pool and indoor/outdoor whirlpool
- Game room
- Basketball court (ask for a ball at the front desk)

Cons
- Only 1 ice machine (that we could find) - located on first floor
- Game room is in loft above pool - so can be very warm and humid
- Only about 1/2 the games in the game room worked (humidity?)
- Sink was not outside of shower/toilet area. Not a deal breaker, but certainly not as convenient when travelling with family

Overall, I'd recommend staying here if visiting Holland.

My family traveled to Holland for the tulip festival and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Very clean facility with nice swimming pool. Very close to all the place we wanted to go. Also near many restaurants.

My family and I were in Holland with my son's baseball team for the weekend. The other team members' families also stayed here. We had a wonderful time. The kids enjoyed the pool--which was very nice-larger than average. The parents were able to hang out and visit while the kids played. There was also a game area over the pool patio area--where the kids played after the pool was closed to kids at 10:00 pm. (Adult swim until midnight) Breakfast was great--We enjoyed eating at the outdoor seating. Overall--excellent experience! :)
