Apples galore! The apple donuts are to die for, along with their apple pie. The owners are wonderful!

“Yummy Desserts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

Compliments of a generous gift card from a dear friend and fellow tripadvisor in Michigan, we enjoyed a delicious dessert at Crane's in the City on our first trip to Holland. At her recommendation, we both ordered their Hot Fudge Donut Sundae. It was absolutely yummy, and the portion size was humongous. Crane's in the City is conveniently located on East 8th Street in Downtown Holland.

“Great place for lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Great food, especially if you have a sweet tooth. Employees were very pleasant. They could use more seating for their customers though.

“Pie was so good I went back for lunch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

We stopped here for a treat late Sunday afternoon. The place was relatively busy considering how dead the rest of town was...definitely promising. Entering the small building was a treat in itself. The room is warm and inviting without being overly kitschy. There is a decent mix of seating...a few at a bar in the front window, several bar-height tables, 3 tables at standard height, and 4 easy chairs around a coffee table. The back of the restaurant features a panoramic view of the restaurant's sister business, Crane Orchards. The menu board is full of simple, down home-type food that is just right on a cool fall day.

The assortment of pies and cobblers was almost overwhelming. We settled on a slice of apple pie for me and cherry cheese strudel for my wife. When we had these later, they were delicious! The pie crust was soft and doughy and the apples were perfectly warm and soft. We decided the desserts were so good that we would go back the next day to try lunch.

The following day, we had the City Cristo and the Downtown Club. Both sandwiches came with a side of kettle chips. They were every bit as delicious as the desserts! I added a cup of chili to mine. The soup was perfect - the way my mother made it! I know there are a lot of ways to make chili; trust me, this is the best! :)

The service was also great the second day. The owner talked to us for about 10 minutes about the business and it's sister businesses, Crane Orchards and Crane's Pie Pantry Restaurant. The others were all friendly and helpful.

“Wonderful pie!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Great blueberry pie, cherry pie and raspberry pie - you can get a scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with it! We ate our pie at the bar in the front window and "people watched". The girls working here were all very nice each time we stopped in during the week.
