My husband and I have stayed at the Super 8 in Grayling, Michigan on numerous occasions. Our most recent stays have been even better than in the past. The hotel is now completely non-smoking, which adds to the cleanliness and good atmosphere.
Another bonus is that they now have adult hours at the pool and whirlpool, which makes for an even more relaxing and enjoyable experience. And the pool room is open late (until midnight), making it very convenient, and maybe even possible to have it all to yourself. It is nice to relax in the pool and whirlpool while watching the snow come down in the woods behind the hotel, where you may also see the wildlife they feed.
The rooms we have been in have always been very clean and comfortable, as well as quiet. The breakfast is basic, but you can warm up premade French toast in the toaster or micro, or choose from cereal, bagels, muffins and donuts.
The location of the hotel is another plus, especially since we usually end up there to go cross-country skiing. It is located just south of the main Grayling exit, so it is in a quieter location. There is a gas station and Arby's in the same parking lot, but for anything else you will either have to drive or order in. Hartwick Pines State Park is less than 10 miles north on I-75, and Higgins Lake is just south, both of which have nice skiing and hiking trails. We usually see quite a few snowmobilers at the hotel so it must be a convenient location for those trails as well.
The front desk staff has been very friendly and helpful on our last two visits, and the cleaning staff does a great job making sure the rooms are spotless.
Overall, this is one of those hotels we know we can rely on for a good, relaxing vacation when in the area.
