I have lived in the Grand Rapids area most of my life and have never visited this location until now. What a great historical attraction! The tour begins in the home next door with a short overview of the home itself and its occupants. Then as a group you begin your tour with a docent, ours was a very knowledgeable man by the name of Michael who really brought the history and architecture of the home and its past occupants to life! I think a tour guide can really make or break a tour, and you can tell that these people who volunteer here as docents do it because they have a passion and a heart for bringing this to the people and visitors to our wonderful city. The home is beautifully well kept, and for the most part authentic to the time and era that this home was built. It was nice learning a little bit more about our little town and also about a wonderful architect who created a masterpiece here.
