Owner description: The Renaissance man’s plans to sculpt a 24-foot bronze horse were never realized until an American sculptor created two models based on da Vinci’s drawings, one of which graces the Frederik Meijer Gardens.

“Beautiful and impressive scuplture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

This is the most impressive piece at the gardens. I've seen it many times, and it never ceases to impress me. Not only is it very large, but it is very well done....there's a commanding presence that this horse exudes, and it's beautiful. There's also a wonderful green space around it for children to play and roll down some decently large hills.

“Very Cool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

It is an amazing piece of art. It is huge and has a great setting in the outdoor garden. Inside they have had the process that was used to make it too which was very interesting.

“DYNAMIC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

There's few words that can describe this wonderful 'sculpture'. Awesome perhaps does best. To be able to go to Meijer Gardens then walk around and under this is both inspirational and numbing.

“Why is this thing in Grand Rapids, Michigan?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

OK the obvious answer is that Frederick Meijer liked the idea, but still, it takes one's breath away to see this monumental piece of sculpture in our out-of-the-way corner of Michigan. This thing is big--no I mean, REALLY big--like an average sized person comes up to its knee kind of big, and it's Leonardo da Vinci's design. Worth a day trip by itself, and that doesn't even count the rest of the very worthwhile Meijer's gardens.

“Big Horsey!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Okay, so the east coast art snobs think Fred Meijer was a putz for building da Vinci's horse. Well...they can stay out east. This is very cool art at the Frederick Meijer Gardens which is actually an outdoor art museum. You should do it.
