A bar/restaurant with a victorian flair. We were surprised that it wasn't packed full like the other "trendy" joints downtown on a Saturday night. That alone made us a little aprehensive about what would be delivered to our table. We shouldn't have worried.
Hubby ordered a surf and turn plate, I ordered a Sirloin with mashed and veggies. The meat was prepared as ordered, tender and fresh (on both plates), and his shrimp were large with pankos style breading.
My steak was very tender and flavorful, and a hardy portion. The veggies were steamed with just the right amount of crispness. The mashed 'taters, well.....they were passable. (way too sticky. Obviously the wrong type for mashing)
I was a little put off by the way my meal was plated. I ordered a steak, mashed, and veg of the day and that's what I got - all in one nice, neat pile in the middle of the plate. (if you're the kind of person who doesn't like your food to touch each other, it would have certainly triggered an anxious moment!) The steak blood in my mashed, and the mashed on the bottom of my steak aside, it was good food for the price. (better value that others downtown) I'd eat there again.
