(8/16/15) I arrived by bicycle to tent camp overnight while touring the breweries in Grand Haven and Spring Lake. I used the DNR website to make my reservation, and it works great! They even had pics online of several of the sites themselves. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and I was directed to my site. Large site (#117) right up against a dune hill, near the channel. The campground is family friendly, and people seemed generally respectful of the 10pm quiet hours, but many were mystified as to how to get to the pier, and cut through my site because it was only occupied by a bike + tent: not cool. The next morning I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the restroom facility was very clean, and large clean showers as well! The park is so close to downtown I'm not sure there is another state park with such a convenient location. The pier was directly over the grass covered dune hill behind my site, and the view from the top of the sunset was beautiful! I would give this park my highest recommendation, but the people cutting thru my site were annoying to say the least. Still, I look forward to staying here again, and It is very much worth the money!
