“Sad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

The staff on duty when we stopped in to see about their dinner menu: Hostess was nice and friendly. But the entrance to the restaurant was filthy! Spider webs and leaves in the inner vestibule area told us it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. And the windows on the doors were disgusting. Inside, the floors were in need of vaccuming and tables were still quite dirty from the lunch rush; which had been over at least an hour earlier; plenty of time to get things cleaned up. If the entrance is trashed, what does the kitchen look like? We decided not to find out.

“Outdoor seating was a treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Wanting to take advantage of a gorgeous late-summer evening, we stopped at Porto Bello's for drinks but ended up staying for dinner. The outside seating was very nice (except for the wedding limo that idled for almost an hour after dropping off its passengers), and the food was pretty good. We ordered a pizza with the "extra thin" crust, which was a bit too thin for these New-York-style-pizza lovers, but the flavors were nice.

“Ok food but dirty interior”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012 via mobile

We went here for dinner on a Tuesday night so the service was fast and our waitress was friendly. However, when we first down, I was disgusted by how dirty the interior was! The booth covers were worn and dirty. And the window sills ha dead bugs and spider webs in them. As a food service employee, I have no idea how the health department hasn't shut this place down. The calamari were tiny pieces the size of m&ms. The vodka sauce tastes nothing like vodka sauce and was watered down. Their meat sauce on the baked ziti had two pieces of meat in it. The rolls were delicious however and the salad wasn't too bad. I won't be visiting again unless it's gutted and cleaned out.

“Okay, good location, food nothing too special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

Porto Bello has a great location close to the boardwalk and the musical fountain. It also has a large covered patio area that is lovely for dining outside when weather permits. That said, the food is nice, but nothing terribly special. The house salad is reminiscent of Olive Garden; the pasta dishes are nice but not anything particularly memorable; and the prices are a bit high for your typical Italian food. The service varies; we've had excellent service and we've had mediocre.

“Poor food for the price”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

Nice atmosphere, but the food was runny and sloppy with little flavor. Like most of grand haven is was also expensive. menu is all carte so don't expect extras like bread or a dinner salad. Better experience at Snug Harbor.
