“You'll be sorry, we were!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2009

Short but sweet, this hotel is run down, not well kept, and not very clean. We should have realized this as we walked in the front entrance as the lobby windows were filthy - you couldn't see out of them. The hallways were dirty and the walls were very nicked up - the wallpaper was straight from the 70's, which wouldn't be a problem if kept clean. The room we stayed in was dingy, the bathroom was very old and the sink was stained and peeling. The breakfast was served in the bar, which was very dark and smelled of stale smoke. Breakfast was to be opened at 7:00, but the door to the "bar" was locked even at 7:15. We had to knock for sometime to be let in (we needed to be on the road), and even at 7:30, no food was yet on the buffet area. We finally did our single pass through on the breakfast bar, but had to pay for drinks.

The website we had read reviews for this hotel on had given it very positive review. Not sure if they were talking about the same hotel - perhaps employees wrote those reviews. . .

We will never return to this motel. Twice we managed to leave things in the room and they evaporated into thin air almost instantly. The first was a cell phone charger and the second time it was a bathing suit. Each time I contacted this motel within 24 hours in an effort to retrieve my belongings and both times I was given the constant runaround by several different people. I called several times looking for my cell phone charger and was told they did not have it. Some time later when I try to get the bathing suit, I was told by the manager she has three boxes of cell phone chargers! You can't get a straight answer from anyone in this establishment. I was informed of signs everywhere that state they are not responsible for lost belongings. So what! Whatever happened to common courtesy and customer satisfaction? They have lost our business and we will spread the word to everyone we know to steer clear of this establishment. The pool area leaves much to be desired. Don't look up! The ceiling is a mess and almost dangerous as it looks like many ceiling tiles are about to fall. The carpeting is dark and stained. The beds and pillows are both hard. And if you like it dark to sleep, avoid the rooms overlooking the pool. The lights were never completely dimmed at night and they shine into the room making sleep difficult. The breakfast area/restaurant is not much bigger than some home kitchens. And it seems like there is one cook and one waitress taking care of everyone. We are in this area often and there are many nicer motels to frequent. Do yourself a favor and avoid this motel.

We had a party of 3. A couple plus one looking for snowmobiling for 3 days and 2 nights. Location was excellent , great access to trails as advertised. Great value for your money. Staff are absolutely awesome. Breakfast was good, all hot food just like homemade. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. Large warm pool and hot tub for 4 that is open til 11 pm so still time to relax after sledding. We enjoyed the experience so much that we booked an extra night and are definitely planning on a return trip. The motel is not brand new but it is still more than adequate to meet all your holiday needs.

Made a quickreservation using our Choice Privilege points and we were not disappointed. We left early on our vacation to avoid an oncoming storm. We were greeted by a friendly clerk. The room was adequate with a large bathroom. The adjacent restaurant was a surprise. Gino's serves great Italian food, not the typical American fare with lots of garlic. I recommend starting with the cheese breadsticks. On our way back we stopped at the desk for bresh baked cookies. The pool area was large and clean.

I have had the pleasure of staying at this hotel twice. The first time we got stuck in a snow storm passing thought. the fround desk staff were awsome. she realy worked with me to get me a good price on the room. It was $55 for the night for 4 adults and that included the continental breakfast. The breakfast is ok but a room for 4 people for $55 dollars makes up for it. The waitress we had on the first stay was great. The second time I stayed here it was 4 adults and 3 kids. We got the 3 room suite For $95 witch consists of 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen and dinning room. It was perfect for us as we put the kids to bed and we were able to play cards and social at the dinning room table. another bonus is it has 2 washrooms. Again the breakfast is just ok but I am willing to over look that for the price. Yes the hotel is a little dated but it was clean and the front desk staff was awsome.

Just a side note my wife works for the government and that seemed to get us the best rate.

We knew it was an older hotel & only stayed 1 night...That was plenty! Check in was friendly & efficient but we had much difficulty getting the key card to open not only the door to get into the hotel but the room as well.

We were a bit suprised to see just how outdated the place was. The hallways are really narrow, the walls are very scratched & marred & the wallpaper is right out of the 70's.

The room was clean, but the heating unti was very old & once we finally got it to blow warm air, it smelled like smoke. The bathroom was clean but really outdated & the shower head flow was no more than a trickle. The shower curtain is mounted in a way that prevents it from closing on either end, so the floor got pretty wet.

The pool area is large & clean but the hot tub only accomodates 4 people. We drove 700 miles that day & were looking forward to a good soak, but it was filled with kids. We finally gave up & went back to the room.

The very worst thing about this hotel has got to be the paper thin walls. We were kept awake until after 3:00 a.m. by an extremely affectionate couple next door. We had our 2 children with us & it was horribly awkward to say the least.

The breakfast bar has potential, unfortunately we didn't experience it. You get a voucher to go through the "buffet" once. You have to hope you lucky enough to go when there is actually food. It is set up very poorly, crammed into a corner. It could be a great breakfast with some re-structuring.

We travel all over Michigan & have stayed in just about every hotel chain there is. I expected much better from a Quality Inn & can honestly say I wouldn't stay here again..at least until some very major renovations are done.
