3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

We recently stayed here for the first time on business, and were given a room away from the Managers residence. The property has been recently renovated and is very nice, no complaints there. I should preface my review by saying that my Family owned a motel at one time, so I know something about the business. It was the middle of a snowless February, so the motel was empty when we checked in. Sometime during the evening, a couple was given the room adjacent to us. Later during the night, a Truck driver was given the room on the opposte side of us. I thought it a bit odd that we weren't all separated by at least one room as the place was deserted anyway. The couple did their business (loudly) and left about midnight. Then the Truck driver was up stomping around at 5:00 am. Little sleep the first night. The second night, a person with a dog was given a room adjacent to us. The dog yapped loudly whenever a noise was heard. No sleep the second night. I'd think that in an empty Motel, there would be some consideration given and plenty of space separating guests for the sake of quiet. There was also about a 3" snow while we were there, and I had to use the Motels' shovel to clear the walk in front of our room. I'd say this is a really nice property that needs some Managers training. (The owners live downstate, I was told) The manager was very friendly, he just didn't give much thought to the guests comfort. I'd stay here again, though.

Thanks so much for taking the time to give us your feedback. We have reviewed your comments with our resident manager and in the future will do a better job of spreading out guests in rooms when possible. We sincerely apologize for the barking dog, we do not generally accept pets, and if we had known about the problem we would have dealt with it immediately. We look forward to providing you a better experience during your next stay with us.

About 60 years ago, I used to go with The Detroit News Hiking Club, to the Old Waters Inn. There was a huge fireplace to keep the Inn warm. That was the ONLY heat! It was lots of fun! We had rope tows!!!!! Peggy McCarthy Davis

The Waters Inn is a renovated "mom & pop" hotel in Waters, Michigan. The cost for a room with 2 regular beds was $71 (including tax, no wifi). It has 10 hotel rooms. Our room was done in knotty pine and had a golf theme. The room was small but very clean and charmingly decorated. The hotel welcomes dogs which is a plus to us. The only negative about our room was a mattress on one of the beds was noisy and uncomfortable. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay there. There is a bar/restaurant right across the street that serves decent food, from burgers to prime rib. Would I go back there - yes, definitely.

What a sweet motel! Very clean and charming. Wireless wasn't free, but the room was so inexpensive, it didn't matter, didn't mind paying the $4.95 a day. They might want to just build that into the cost if they find a lot of people use it, just so it seems like it's "free" like other places. On the other hand, this seems like the ideal place to just get away from it all, so maybe a lot of folks don't use the wireless at all. Really nice woman at the front desk who told us to "be sure to sit on the porch and watch no cars go by!"
Great stay!
