We love small town restaurants, we love historic sites and we love to eat outside. Franklin Grill has all the elements in its favor.
Except one. The food is awful, the chef showcases a lackluster menu and service is slow, slow, slow. The servers are very friendly, but how they keep the facade going is beyond us. They know the kitchen sucks. And does it ever.
We ordered the Filet medium and it came well done with virtually raw asparagus. The crispy onions were cold and soggy and garlic mashed were tasteless. Also ordered was the paella which was nothing more than stir fry veggies, a scoop of rice and the blandest, most tasteless creation ever put on a menu,.
The server was apologetic and used to the agony of the diners. We were offered free dessert but none the less got the bill for $100 and that included a $30 bottle of room temperature red wine. The prices are outrageous and we can say this is one historic place that shouldn't be in the food business. Do not go, we will never be back.
