We have family that live with a few minutes of Frankenmuth, so we frequent this city at least a dozen times every year.
The Bavarian Inn Restaurant and Zehnder's are THE main food locations; owned by the same family business. Zehnder's is themed after the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island, and The Bavarian Inn Restaurant is full of Bavarian themed flair throughout. Both have excellent food, great service, and are known for their chicken dinners. FYI - Look up them up online and register for a free meal during your birthday month! There are several other good restaurants in the area, but if it's your first time, visit either one of the above.
There are numerous festivals & events throughout the year, and we've done each at least a couple times. The big ones include the Snowfest, World Expo of Beer, Bavarian Festival, Volkslaufe (The People's Race), Summer Music Fest, Oktoberfest & Holiday Celebration & Candlewalk. All are good and well managed. You can learn more at http://www.frankenmuth.org/. TIP - If you want to visit these events, go early for good parking.
Bronners is another big draw to the area. This building is as large as a shopping mall and is 100% Christmas themed, full of anything you could ever wish to decorate & celebrate the holiday. Founded in 1945, it's has developed into a major attraction with people traveling from around the world, just to visit here. We always get an ornament every year representing a vacation or family event since last holiday season. TIP - If you do not like lots of people, visit any month OTHER than December.
