We have family that live with a few minutes of Frankenmuth, so we frequent this city at least a dozen times every year.

The Bavarian Inn Restaurant and Zehnder's are THE main food locations; owned by the same family business. Zehnder's is themed after the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island, and The Bavarian Inn Restaurant is full of Bavarian themed flair throughout. Both have excellent food, great service, and are known for their chicken dinners. FYI - Look up them up online and register for a free meal during your birthday month! There are several other good restaurants in the area, but if it's your first time, visit either one of the above.

There are numerous festivals & events throughout the year, and we've done each at least a couple times. The big ones include the Snowfest, World Expo of Beer, Bavarian Festival, Volkslaufe (The People's Race), Summer Music Fest, Oktoberfest & Holiday Celebration & Candlewalk. All are good and well managed. You can learn more at http://www.frankenmuth.org/. TIP - If you want to visit these events, go early for good parking.

Bronners is another big draw to the area. This building is as large as a shopping mall and is 100% Christmas themed, full of anything you could ever wish to decorate & celebrate the holiday. Founded in 1945, it's has developed into a major attraction with people traveling from around the world, just to visit here. We always get an ornament every year representing a vacation or family event since last holiday season. TIP - If you do not like lots of people, visit any month OTHER than December.

Frankenmuth is a beautiful Bavarian town where Christmas is celebrated year round. It has wonderful resturaunts and delightful shops to explore with the best being Bronners Christmas Store. If you can't find an ornament or Christmas decoration there then they don't make it, it's the largest Christmas store I've ever seen!

Our annual fall pilgrimage to Frankenmuth was a bit different this October. We went "local" in our choice of dining spots and were rewarded. Arriving just after noon on a glorious Friday, weather-wise, we strolled the length of Main Street downtown to stop for a beer and light lunch at the Main Street Tavern, a bar highly recommended by several friends. We were not disappointed. Splitting two appetizers and a generous pitcher of Michigan's own, Bell's Oberon beer was a great way to start our mini-vacation. Main Street Tavern is a cozy, locals-type bar with a great juke box and friendly service. Our tab for lunch was just less than $20; and I thought it was well spent. After lunch we strolled back down Main Street, window-shopping along the way. Two notable stores worth a look see are the Frankenmuth Woolen Mills, wonderful clothing choices including Pendleton sweaters; and Rau's Country Store--offering a product inventory I can't begin to describe. Just stop in there and see for yourself.

Our dinner choice was also out of the ordinary in this chicken crazed town; Frankenmuth Brewery. This handsome building and dining spot is built on the site of the old Carling Brewery which was destroyed by a tornado back in the '60s(I believe). Frankenmuth Brewery is a Brew Pub--eight unique recipes including a wonderful Irish Cream Stout. The menu here is upscale pub grub with a german influence. Very busy, even during our late dinner, which makes a positive statement about the abilities exercised in the kitchen.

Frankenmuth is worth the visit at least once. Not much to see or do except shop and eat, which I like to do. For a tourist town we were surprised that most service was poor, and people were unfriendly -- most notably at the St. Julian Winery, Frankenmuth Brewery, Birch Run Taco Bell and River Place shops. Excellent service was provided at Zendher's restaurant, Franken Eck restaurant, Main Street Tavern, Bonner's and Drury Inn. I recommend a short visit; only long enough to eat at Zendher's and Franken Eck, plus visit Bonner's Christmas Store.

We enjoyed your town very much that we are going to celebrate my wife's 50th Birthday with site seeing in your quaint little town. We enjoyed everything you had in Frankenmuth . We liked the brochures at our last visit that were offered in the center of town. It was such a great welcome to Frankenmuth. Thank you for the chance to comment on our past trip. We will be leaving soon to come to visit for July 14-15-16. Thank You Again
Sincerely Rick and Diane Scheutzow
