The Bavarian Inn is huge and stately in a way. Within it is lots of shopping - specialty shops and a terrific bakery, and a good German restaurant, with all the German foods. Germans love vegetables for appetizers, and at the Bavarian Inn, they come in a variety of salad mixtures: red cabbage, a kind of coleslaw, cucumbers, radishes, potato salad, some pasta salad, etc. I could make a meal just out of the apps. There were 5 of us, and we mostly ordered the chicken as an entrée. The food is served family style when more than one person orders the same meal, and seconds are always available.
The main dining room is huge, and can probably accommodate about 300 people or more. The décor is simple yet elegant, and the servers, dressed in Bavarian costume are pleasant and attentive….and very busy! They do hustle.
For dessert, my mouth was watering for some tasty strudel, and I was not disappointed. The crust is flakey rather than gummy and the apples still a bit firm rather than mushy.
The restaurant is a place to celebrate…a family fun place, with the noise level high enough to cover your conversations and jokes at the table, but not loud enough to be annoying. The Bavarian Inn is a must when you’re in Frankenmuth! Guten Appetit!
