“Very much over-rated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

What a disappointment!! My wife, son and daughter-in law flew into MBS for a Christmas visit and I thought it would be nice to treat them to a dinner at the home of the "World Famous Chicken". We all had the ultimate family style dinner which came with a cold bean salad, very creamy cole slaw, some sort of cranberry mixture and a macaroni salad. The cole slaw was too creamy and the bean salad not very good as it was cold. Then came soup which was chicken soup and it was ok. Nothing special, tho. The the entrees came which were their fried chicken, sauerbraten, pork, and schnitzel. I had never eaten at the Bavarian Inn but they keep saying they have "world famous chicken." Well, it may be famous, but certainly NOT for good tasting! I couldn't believe the very strong chicken taste and the bland, chalky coating it had on it. Not even mediocre. The schnitzel was a pork schnitzel and below average in taste---nowhere near what a good schnitzel should be. The Sauerbraten was good but the port was some sort of smoked ham---not a roast pork at all, but a bad substitute for just a plain old ham. All in all, a not-so-hot meal for a place that prides itself as having "famous" chicken. Many tourists in town and the place was busy, so even tho the food was edible but rather plain, at least everyone could look at the Christmas lights in town. The restaurant across the street is called Zehnders and is owned by the same people as the Bavarian Inn. Whether or not the food is the same mediocre lot in both, I know not. All in all, not a place I can recommend. Visitors to Frankenmuth might wish to try some of the other restaurants I saw all along the main street in town. They can't be worse, I don't believe and probably are better as they have to try harder in order to overcome the false Bavarian Inn "mystique" built up over the years,

“Food is so good, we were so stuffed it hurt.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2011

We stuck with what the Bavarian Inn is famous for... the chicken dinner. We unfortunately, ordered seconds on the chicken and simply gorged. The beer is actually pretty decent as well. But the chicken is the star and couldn't imagine order something else off the menu... I guess not the best place to bring a vegetarian for a meal.

“The Best way to Start the Holiday Season”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2011

The Bavarian Inn restaurant has been a family tradition since I was a little girl. The food is delicious, particularly the All-you-can-eat family style, and everyone is very welcoming. We visited during Thanksgiving weekend; while it was very busy, the food was excellent. The only drawback was that it was difficult to get our servers attention becuase it was so busy, but that is not unexpected on a holiday weekend. Overall, the visit was very good; better service from our waitress would have made it an excellent visit!!!

“Very, Very good as always!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2011

If you are looking for a calm and relaxing experience, dine here at the Bavarian Inn. It just so happened on this Saturday that the boiler went down and the reservations were pushed back about an hour. We understood that these things happen with no fault to the Inn, but we were so impressed with how they handled the situation. They scrambled to find seats for all to wait comfortably, keeping us all posted on the progress to our being seated in the dining room, very attentive to the people who were waiting all the while trying to render the problem. We were so impressed. The food is wonderful, and plenty of it! Also a great place for people who need Handicap provisions,( strollers, Wheel chairs, etc. ) A must experience!
