“Satisfactory Stay at the Marv Herzog”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

We stayed here on our way up to Mackinac Island in a Double Queen Terrace Room with a River view and a balcony that overlooked the Cass River. Although we generally prefer staying in a suite, this room was adequate for our needs since we were only staying for one night, but they are quite average in terms of the overall decor and comfortability factor. Somehow we were expecting a little more, although their lobby was very welcoming. The snacks that they serve for their evening social hour were quite laughable, and the overall quallity of their breakfast was just so-so. Actually, the real highlight of our stay here was the chance to finally get to meet a fellow tripadvisor member and her husband who have become wonderful friends after corresponding with each other over the past 6 years. However, in all sincerity, whenever we visit Frankenmuth sometime again in the future, we would probably end up trying another hotel.

This was the 4th time my wife and I stayed at the Marv Herzog. We make a yearly pilgrimage to get new Christmas supplies and relax in the town of Frankenmuth. The Marv Herzog is located at the top of the hill on the river. We always get a river view and spend most of our time on the balcony. They have free drinks from 5-7 with warm snacks too which is always a nice treat. In the morning there is a free breakfast which is a great way to start your day. This is a simple but nice hotel which I recommend to anyone who wishes to relax.

Room Tip: Cant beat the river view

We stopped overnight in Frankenmuth and stayed at the Marv Herzog Hotel. Both the hotel and the town of Frankenmuth was fabulous. The hotel was located just slightly off the main part of town, but a very close walk. The hotel was a nice size, very clean and super comfortable and had a small balcony that either overlooked the main street (which was very quiet-no traffic at night) or overlooked the river. Our room overlooked the street and it was nice to sit on the balcony at night looking at the lights from the main street. The rooms with the balcony overlooking the water were lovely and a more peaceful sight The hotel also gave vouchers for 2 drinks each and snacks (pretzels, cheese, crackers, etc.), which was a really nice spread between 5 and 7 p.m. All in all was very impressed and would have loved to stay a few more nights. If you did not have a room with a balcony, there was a nice very large patio you could access from the hotel overlooking the river.

We stayed for one night at the end of September on the first floor overlooking the river. The room was nice but it actually looked out over the terrace, which was nice, but you had to go out to the edge of terrace to see the river. The wine and snacks were a welcome addition and overall it was a nice stay. The breakfast was good and the staff friendly.

Room Tip: I would choose a room on the second floor or higher, with a view of the river. The river is not qui...

We have just returned from spending 3 nights here for our anniversary. The room was spotless, the staff friendly and helpful, the free breakfast and nightly snacks were fine. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of water pressure and warm water for our showers.

My only suggestion would be to pay a little extra for a room overlooking the river. Our room overlooked the street and the traffic noise was loud but this is not the fault of the hotel. This is a hotel geared more for adults than for kids. It is quiet and does not have a pool or exercise room but if you are looking for a great quiet place to relax and enjoy this is it. W enjoyed spending an hour out on the patio just reading.

This is second time we have stayed here. We came by early and was lucky to get a room overlooking the street which had a balcony. The hotel is very quaint. I love the foyer of the hotel as it quite large. It has two large comfortable seating areas to sit at along with a separate area to enjoy the free offering of wine & beer with snacks at night along with popcorn and breakfast in the morning. Also outside is a large outdoor patio overlooking the river. There are double rocker chairs to sit at along with table & chairs to have your evening wine/beer/snacks or breakfast in the morning. Also the breakfast is quite sufficient especially if you are traveling on. The hotel is a short walk to the downtown to visit its many shops and also go the other way to visit the Frankenmuth Brewery.

This is the place to stay when visiting Frankenmuth.

I will never come back to the Marv Herzog hotel, I am always received at this hotel with a counter person who is very rude, every time! I will spend my money elsewhere.the breakfast is very bad, the underground parking lot is way too small, they advertise queen beds but they are twin size, there is no gym of pool, over all it is a very bad hotel, staff is always very rude!

Room Tip: Not worth the money, go to another hotel,
