“Fun for the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012 via mobile

Would be nice to have a deeper area for adults in hotel pool but had a really good time with the kids. Heater in Suite 2 is undesirable, heater is on bedroom and channeled through cheap vent to living room. Sweat in bedroom and freeze in the living room on the pull out bed.

Here's what occurred here. There was a run down hotel next to Bronner's. Bronner's is a major tourist draw.
Zehnders's purchases it and adds a water park addition to the front of the structure. The rooms are refreshed just enough to bring them up to the early 80's. They are still very small and lack basic amenities. Can you exist in a room that doesn't even have a counter large enough to leave your toothpaste and essentials? One room of our two room "suite" had 3 hangars and no storage drawers. It probably should be renamed "sweet"
or "cozy nook".
If your coming for the water park stay somewhere else close by and choose the half day water park pass instead. The hotel was not built for kids and families. It is extremely loud all night. The walls are paper thin and you hear the plumbing noises from upper levels.
The online reservation system is awkward and slow. Our group was 4 rooms and I wanted to pull my hair out. It didn't give us the option of adding the individual names to the specific rooms.
My daughter arrived first and they called me to assure that she could check in to one of the rooms. That wouldn't have been necessary if the website was thoughtful in it''s approach. Pre Paying in full when booked is ridiculous.
The food package is no bargain don't waste your money.Buy individually as you aren't saving a dime.,
The pizza package allowed for a large pizza per room. Our double suite still entitled us to a single pizza.
Every package and deal benefited the hotel and not you. They were designed to get your money up front before you knew what to expect at the hotel.
There was no where in the facility to gather as a group. The lobby has 4 chairs.
Even the wifi was awkward, each time you signed on it needed your email address.
Zehnders should stick to their $20 chicken dinners and leave lodging to experienced professionals.

Thank you for your comments. I would appreiciate an opportunity to discuss what you think we can do to enhance our basic room amenity package as each of our rooms are equipped with at least one tv, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and six drawer dresser. In addition to the basic package some of our room types have two bathrooms, three tv's and fireplaces. I apologize the closet had only three hangers, the housekeeping staff could have added additional hangers immediately. I apologize for any inconvenience experienced through our website. Not being able to add additional guests names to rooms is a precaution taken to insure guests that are given access to rooms are indeed authorized and are of age. Many of our guests have thanked us for calling to authorize access; a demonstration that we take guest safety and security seriously. Some guests have had their 16 year old arrive in advance with their friends, we do not allow access. The reason we do not allow access is because we do not know the individual family dynamics of each family represented by a reservation, even adults not shown on the room folio will not be given access unless authorized by the person making the reservation.

I would appreciate discussing the food package you chose. Each of our "Eat & Sleep" packages affords a 20% discount, if compared to purchasing separately, and $10 off the standard room rate. While we do provide a limited amount of full and half-day waterpark passes to non guests, it is almost never cheaper to stay somewhere else and pay the pass price, never guaranteed as the amount is limited and never more convenient. Additionally, we host many family groups that request some type of gathering space. I agree our lobby is not the ideal location for a family gathering longer than a few minutes. We do however, have up to four private rooms at Splash Village we make availible for families to have a private area just to themselves. Additional private rooms are availible at Zehnder's just a short shuttle trip away. Please call me personally at 1-800-863-7999 and I would be pleased to discuss your visit and comments and extend my personal invitation to return.

Sincerely,
Doug Lemcke, General Manager

We've been to this city many times and stay here too. Check in was easy and when asked for a room with a view of Bronners, I was lucky to get one. The rooms are big and beds are super comfy The waterpark is clean and there is plenty to do with the waterslides, basketball, fort for the kids, hot tubs, and a pool for swimming. in the lobby they play a Christmas movie at night. It's a great place to kick off the christmas season!

We have been to Zehnder's Splash Village several times and have always had a good experience. Our children are 10, 6, and 2 and there is something for everyone. The waterpark is small enough that we can easily keep an eye on our kids, but it has enough activities to keep their interest. I imagine that kids much older than 14 would find it a little boring after a while, but so far so good with mine. The whole facility is very well maintained and clean. The lifeguards are vigilant but courteous.

The motel itself has been recently renovated and carries a "woodland" theme throughout. The rooms are spacious and clean. I found the mattresses and bedding very comfortable. Despite lots of young families staying there, I have never noticed a noise problem.

There is a nice dining room with a large breakfast buffet in the morning, counter service, full bar, etc. The food and drinks are reasonably priced, service is quick and the staff is accustomed to being around families with lots of little kids.

Although check in time is 3pm, we have been able to get into our rooms early on several occasions. Not a guarantee, but a nice surprise when it happens.

There are many things to do in nearby Frankenmuth and this resort practically shares a parking lot with Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland. Overall, it is a great place to go with younger kids for a quick get-away.

Room Tip: For significantly better rates visit during the week.

We didn't stay at the motel but it is beautiful.
Took our grand kids there swimming, they loved it, we spent the whole day. We had pizza for lunch and it was delicious. A great place for a family day or vacation.

Room Tip: Pick a room with a loft, so fun for the kids.

Great place to take the family the staff is very kind and friendly and the rooms are big and clean. The only problem I had was the pool area was very cold and the water was on the chilly side I could only bare the water for about 30 mintues before my lips started to chatter and I had to get out.

Good place for families with kids. We arive early before 3PM but room was ready and we were able to check in and go direct to water park, thank you!. Hotel and room are very clean, bathroom spotless (with kids soap and shampoo) and comfortable beds and pillows. Balconies, nice touch even when is cold.
Water park is a lot of fun for kids and parents. Also there is a big pool and jacuzzi at the other end of the hotel!
Breakfeast was good, a little overpriced, very busy in weekend.
I rated the hotel only as Very good !
Now few negatives:
- water park employees are constantly removing all towels from chairs and tables even when their not used. Where do we suposed to kep it while going to slides?? Need to note that our glasses were under on towel on a table and when towel was taken,my glases were on the cement floor, broken - $250!!! Sad part, I witness everithing from the top of the yellow slide, while in line, and could not do anyhting to save my glasses.
- lockers at the park have just one shower, wide open. Not good when you as a mom have to take shower with your 5 year old boy waiting there!
- Arcades games are 80% not functioning properly, loosing tokens and most of them, not being able to play and not being reinbursed! And very , very expensive.
