We rarely saw a smile or welcoming face, beginning at the front desk all the way to the restaurant personnel. Nearly everyone gave the impression it was somehow not part of their (Bavarian?) culture to smile or look pleasant. The same lack of welcome was apparent at Zehnder's restaurant, BTW.
The room decor was what you'd expect at a cheap motel. Cheap, badly decorated furniture (the "carved" trim didn't line up), dripping with late 80's wallpaper border and bedspread, it wasn't even a pretend-Bavarian look.
The pools for young children were fun; especially if you went early when it wasn't crowded. The miniature golf was a big hit, with one hole going through playhouse-like buildings. But I resented paying SO much for each game. Nearly everything at this hotel is an extra charge. The buffet breakfast is to be avoided at all costs. We were hungry, and it was still awful. We ordered off the menu the next morning and it was much better. We went here strictly for the kids; next time we'll give more thought to the adults' preferences. A permium price was charged, but absolutely not a premium hotel.
