Our family of four stayed at the Lodge for the weekend in March 2005. It was a very fun place to go as a family, with two young children. Some of the comments I've read from other reviews were true, such as the strong smell of chlorine. This was on the pool level and only when you were close to the pool areas. Our room was right on pool level but we could not smell the chlorine in or near our room. The kids had a blast! There is alot to do at the Lodge, and also in the surrounding area. Downtown Frankenmuth was a nice place to shop, we also enjoyed the Historical Museum. One downfall was that some of the activities inside cost extra money at the Lodge, such as the arcade and the mini-golf. The room on pool level was pretty expensive, and it was a little disappointing when we saw it because of the high cost. The beds, however were very comfortable. Our neighbors who were there with a few older kids and teens were pretty loud the first night, though. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who's going for peace, quiet or relaxation. We had alot to do and it was great fun for us as a family. The family fun center, children's village and golf were great. I think if we went back it would only be for one night and in a standard room so it wouldn't cost so much extra to be near the pools. Oma's restaurant was very good and reasonable cost. In general we were happy with our stay and our 3-year-old thought we were staying in a castle, because of the architectural style from the outside. We do recommend the Lodge, it's a good idea to look for deals on the rooms, and to seek out things to do and see outside of the Lodge, too, like in town and in Birch Run. We all thought that next time we would like to go when it's warmer weather like Spring or Fall, so we could enjoy the great walking areas, etc. In all it was a fun place to be, just on the expensive side.
