“My Grand Kids Loved It”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

It was my husband's 62nd birthday, we invited our grand kids. This was the first time we used the fun center it was great, the water slides were the highlight of the day, my 7 year old grandson had the time of his young life. We reserved a mini suite for my son his wife and my two grand children, it was just the right amount of space. We reserved a king room and it was perfect. After two hours at the pool and a hour at the fun center we went to dinner. Our meals at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant were as good as usual (never a bad meal). We then went back to the pool another two hours of fun.. My husband has been commenting that this was his best birthday ever. A tip to all frequent travelers to Frankenmuth you have to join the Perks Club, it saved us at least $50.00, and join the Birthday Club you will get a free meal during the month of you birthday. You cannot go wrong staying at the Bavarian Inn Hotel.

Room Tip: Couples, the King Room is the perfect size, families with young kids the mini suite is perfect (sepa...

Dear MMAC:

Thank you for your loyalty and repeat visits as a Bavarian Inn Perks Member. It is a "gift" for our staff to hear your husband say it was the best birthday ever! Thank you again!

Stayed here two nights in June as part of a wedding party. The place is Very Clean and the staff is very friendly. The beds were a little small but comfortable. Has a big arcade and miniture golf course for kids. The second day of my Stay My mother needed medical attention for a cut she recieved at the Hotel . I called the front desk to see if they had a first aid area, they did not which i found a liitle strange for a resort this size anyways the front desk said they had Band aids and rubbing alchol if needed. I then Preceeded to ask them where the nearest hospital was and they told me Saginaw Covanent Hospital. They did not mention anything about the Covanent Urgent care center right there in Frankenmuth. I hung up with the front desk and called some one else in our Party who knew someone who lived in Frankenmuth and they said there was a place right in town we could go but they did'nt know the name but told us it was out by Mcdonalds. So I called the front desk once again, as the wedding was getting close and less then 2 hours away. I talked to a different person this time and asked if there was a walk in clinic or an Urgent care facillity in town. This person also told me the closest one would be in Saginaw, by this time I was getting Angry, I've had more helpful reposnses form Front desk people at budget Hotels , Angrily I said look isnt there one out by Mcdonalds , and the lady is like oh yeah let me look that up for you She gave me the phone number and the hours and was nice about it but it's a shame that it took an out of town guest to Know more about the place then the people who live and work there. We were in and out patched up and made the wedding on time. But I will not be staying here again.

Mike J.,

Thank you so much for staying with us during your recent stay for a wedding at the Lodge. I am glad you overall enjoyed your stay but am so very sorry for the lack of knowledge about the local Med-Express office by our hotel operator. I had determined that this was a 2nd day employee and they live in an adjacent town. This is not a good excuse and our Front Desk Manager is planning changes to the training checklists for such an important subject.

We run a much lower than normal turn-over rate on employees compared to other hotels but we still have new employees. At the time of day you are speaking of they should have easily been able to get an accurate answer to your question as many staff would be available around her.

I have not had to address this example of a challenge in decades and will work hard to assure it is not an issue in the future. I hope you will reconsider our hotel again for any future stays!

Sincerely,

Jim Engel, C.O.O.

We just recently stayed at the Bavarian Inn and this is not our first stay at the resort. We don't normally go back to the same hotel, but the Bavarian is an exception to our rule. When you find the best in a certain place why go anywhere else. If you are traveling to Frankenmuth, Michigan then you must stay here!

First, let me stress the cleanliness of this resort. At other hotels you can see stains on carpets, bed linens, etc. When you take a shower you are afraid that the shower curtain will touch you. You don't dare use the ice bucket. At the Bavarian, however, feel free to walk barefoot throughout. Take a shower without fear. Use your ice bucket as it was intended. This resort is immaculately kept.

The pools and whirlpools are very clean and well kept. They clean them twice daily. You can smell the chlorine the minute you step off the elevator into the fun center. That is great considering you never see a child using the restroom.

The fun center is a huge hit with kids and adults. There are two main pools. Two whirlpools. An awesome kiddie pool for toddlers. Two awesome waterslides (you can ride at 42") , and an adult pool. The arcade is huge and has a lot of great hits including deal or no deal, wheel of fortune, doddle jump, and a huge connect four among many other games. There is an indoor mini golf as well. Toddlers will love the indoor play structure. And all you adults... well you can have an adult beverage ANYWHERE!

As for the rooms... well, they are average. They are highly priced, but nothing really special. There are a few neat features such as every room having a family name and a history of that family throughout the room in pictures, biographies, etc. There is sort of a pillow menu with a card on your bed explaining the pillows. Of course they are spotless and you can walk barefoot throughout even on the balcony.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even brought me a fan upon request. Don't expect any extra freebies though. You will have to pay, pay, pay for room upgrades, late checkout, etc. Other hotels give these away at no cost. We wanted a late checkout and were told that we could ask about that at 6am and it would cost us up to $80.00. What is the point in that? We want a late checkout so we can sleep in!

Food was good. Family style chicken dinner just ok. Grandma needs to step it up a bit! Chicken, however, was amazing! They do know how to serve some excellent chicken.

Shopping Great! Be prepared to sink some cash on fudge, pastries, candies, and other unique items. We took out 4 year old and she fell in love with the realistic babies at the nursery and all priced over $100.00. Needless to say she left with a stuffed dog at $12.00.

Well, have a great stay at the Bavarian Inn!

Dear Melissa G.,

Thanks so much for sharing such depth and thought into your review on this site. I will be sharing your words on the cleanliness with our ENTIRE housekeeping department as it says volume to their "attitude" about cleanliness and will make them feel as proud of each other as I am of all of them year round!

I appreciate your comment about chlorine and bathroom use. We actually temporarily close all of the family pools nightly at about 8pm for a "bath room break". At that time our certified pool operators test chemicals and adjust mid evening. that together with a noon test and overnight adjustments have assured the best water quality. Plus we use a CO2 system along with a UV light system on every pool, whirlpool and slide to minimize the need for such heavy chlorine!

We so appreciate your loyalty and will keep working hard to make improvements and remodel perpetually!

Sincerely,

2nd year in a row for our "mini" vacation which we spent at the Bavarian Inn Lodge. We enjoy being at a place where the staff makes you feel so welcome regardless of their job. So glad we found the exercise room in the Fun Center. Clean, relaxing, quiet, friendly....couldn't ask for anything more.

Room Tip: We thoroughly enjoyed the riverside balcony.

Our time here was a great chance for my extended family to kick back and relax in the Bavarian lifestyle. Something for everyone to enjoy and the food is top-rate. We felt welcomed from the moment that we set foot in the lobby through checkout. Every member of our group had a wonderful time here. We have stayed here many times in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
