“Our Favorite Vacation Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

My family has been staying at the Bavarian Inn Lodge for the last 12 years. We always have excellent service, the rooms are clean, the staff is super friendly and helpful. We really couldn't ask for more. My girls are 14 and 6, and there is planty to do for both of them without ever leaving the Lodge! When asked where they want to go for a weekend away, the answer is always "Frankenmuth!"

Dear Erica K.,

Thank you for including us in your 12 year tradition of visiting Frankenmuth. It puts a smile on our face when we hear that kids are cheering "Frankenmuth" to their parents and they are having fun while visiting us. We are all about creating family memories at the Bavarian Inn and are tickled that we do so for you when you stay!

Please look me up when you return, would live to meet your entire family. I have been at the Lodge since we opened 26 years ago (9 years at the Restaurant before that) so I will likely be here when you return!

Sincerely,

Jim Engel, C.O.O.

The reason we stayed here is because Of the 5 different pools. The kids (4& 1)loved the kiddie area and the entire fun center. Although we didn't have a chance to play mini golf:(.
The rooms were really clean. The mattress was a little on the firmer side(I liked it) but looked newer and I didn't feel like I had to wear my shoes all the time.

I would recommend bringing your own water to drink though because I was shocked when I paided 2.25 for a small bottle of water. The food at Ratskater(I think that's how it is spelt) was better than Oma's but all a little expensive.

Dear Michelle in Cadillac,

Thank you for staying with your young family at the Lodge. So glad you enjoyed the Ratskeller menu which is served Cafeteria style. It is in this restaurant that we don't really care if guests are dining in bathing suits, pajamas or normal clothing and shoes are in fact optional!

Thank you for staying with us and Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Jim Engel, C.O.O.

We have gone to the Bavariann Inn Lodge the last two years for a weekend for my son's birthday and he has had a great time both times. The water slides were there this year and great fun. He is 8 years old and started asking the day we got home when we can go back and stay again.

My wife and I spent the nights of Dec.23 and 24 in this lodge and we found it to be a quite enjoyable stay. The lodge is interestingly laid out in long rambling corridors just ideal for strolling around wondering what abounds around the next corner. Definitely a family oriented establishment with tons of entertainment for the little ones. Clean and updated and well maintained, each guest room has a name plate on the door of one of the early pioneer families of the Frankenmuth area. I think ours was of the Werth family. A must stay here place when visiting Frankenmuth.
The only downside (hardly worth mentioning) is that the lodge is a little hard to spot when entering downtown from the south as it is across the river through a covered bridge. The Bavarian Lodge restaurant which is right on main street can be easily mis-identified as the actual lodge where one stays. The walls are a little thin, I could hear my neighbour talking next door. (no big deal tho')
We'll return......

Room Tip: try for one close to the elevators as the corridors are long and winding

Dear Rambler,

Thank you kindly for your post on Trip Advisor and for your Holiday visit! Our location is good in that you are close to downtown, yet in the country as we are at the edge of town and the edge of downtown - BOTH! So glad you had a relaxing time! We take great pride in assembling the family histories into all 360 guestrooms (with zero repeats I might add) and worked with each individual family to grace the walls with their heritage. Many locals drop in with out of town family and ask if they can show them "their" room!

Thank you for staying with us and Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Jim Engel, C.O.O.

We have been staying that the Bavariann Inn Lodge in Frankenmuth for several years. We Love being Bavariann Perks members and enjoy deeply discounted rates through the year. We usually go once in the fall, one or two times in the winter and once in the spring. Our son has grown up with the Lodge being his "FAVORITE PLACE EVER!!" There are pools for everyone (kiddie, water slides, large pool, waterfall pool, hot tubs and an adult only pool and hot tub." The arcades are great, the hotel is spotless and there are TONS of little things to do in town. We love taking Grandma and Grandpa and getting adjoining private rooms - offers time for family fun and time for mommy and daddy to escape while the grandparents take over. Having everything in one place is perfect! We also love walks by the river, the wooden bridge, horse drawn carriage rides, delicious food, great hospitality and smiles galore when we say, "we're going to Frankenmuth!"

This was our first time staying here and it won't be the last. The staff are friendly the hotel is very clean. the public areas are fully decked out with Christmas cheer, and the food is great. The hours of all the pools are excellent.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the river side with a balcony.

Dear Wolfhowl,

I would agree our hours of operation of our pools are some of the longest hours of any water park styled hotel in Michigan. All 4 pools; 3 whirlpools & the new water slides open at 8am and are open until 11pm daily and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. We do close the water areas from 11am - 12:30 pm daily to test and adjust water chemistry to assure the safest water possible - each day.

Our Holiday decor team will enjoy your compliment on the Christmas Cheer that they bring through their long hours of decorating the Lodge. They will be converting to a Chinese New Year Theme for the decor late next week!

Happy New Year & Thank you for staying at the Lodge!

Sincerely,

Jim Engel, C.O.O.

The Bavarian Inn Lodge is a wonderful place to get away from the stress and pressures of everyday Life. Sitting in their Pool-side Jacuzzi Tub melts away tension as the Kds play in the Pool just Feet away. They just added slides to the main pool area. While it is a little too much for me to ride the Slides, the Kids loved them and couldn't stop talking about it. We always enjoy the Ratskeller, stopping in for an Evening Pizza break after swimming. I love their Holiday Events and we try to come there for most of them. Everyone is friendly and genuinely wants to make your visit a fun time for all the Family. Thats why our Family and our Friends have stayed there over Seventy Times.

Room Tip: If you have the Kids with you, try to get a Pool-level Room. They're right behind the Game Room...

Dear Fritz K.,

Thank you for your loyalty and expressions of praise within your review. We have an amazing team who join together from the Front Desk & Housekeeping to put on our children special events throughout the year. I will share your compliments with them on their efforts! We are all about creating enjoyable experiences and the kid/family activities are at the top of the List.

Incidentally, working in a German theme resort for 35 years, I have met my share of people named Fritz... and I have enjoyed knowing every-single-one-of-them! Hope to meet you in person on your next arrival!

Sincerely,
