“Incredible! You must go!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

I don't know where to begin to express how impressed we were with Torino. For years now, we have returned from vacations lamenting the dining options in the Detroit area. Don't get me wrong, there are many delicious places to eat, but none compared to the upscale, inventive and delicious experiences we had on big city vacations. Now, finally, Detroiters have Torino. The menu changes weekly. They (generously) offer to accommodate allergies and food restrictions if previously notified, but they do not have a menu to order from. You are in Torino's capable hands. We visited March 15. The menu included foie gras, mushrooms and goat cheese in a pastry, bacon wrapped rabbit, sable fish with an incredible spicy accompaniment... each course made us declare it the most delicious, until the next course arrived. We highly recommend choosing the wine pairing to go with the meal. It was expertly chosen with notes of each glass complementing the creative flavors in each dish. The wine pairing included choices I would have NEVER made, but highly enjoyed. The only suggestion we had concerned the timing. A couple of courses came a bit quick for my husband and I. We wanted a little more time to savor each dish (and needed longer to finish the wine pairing.)

“Fantastic Tasting Menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

I love tasting menus. They are adventurous and really get you talking about the food and wine and are the showcase of an eveneing. Unfortunately, there are not very many options in the Detroit area. I can think of three others: Logan in Ann Arbor, Vellum in Ann Arbor, and Marais in Gross Pointe. I have been to them all and with all due respect to the A2 restaurants, only Marais matches Torino's quality and ambition. Value wise, Torino is supreme. The service was very good and the food and wine came out at a good pace. They gave me a chance to discuss what I had just eaten and drunk. The food was outstanding. This is the most forward thinking food in the State. It really is a blend of different techniques and styles. The only knock on the restaurant was the bar area. With other diners really dressing up, it was a shame to see a man in the bar area wearing a baseball cap and a sweatshirt. But that's not the end of the world. If you like food aand want something that reminds you of NYC or Paris, come and eat here.

“Torino brings the tasting menu to a city near us”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

We have tried this concept in a variety of places, most recently at WD50 in New York, but Torino does it as well as any. A series of well-prepared and inventive dishes are produced, followed by a small dessert. Wines and other drinks are also available. At $60/person this is a real bargain compared with some of the others,e.g., the French Laundry. Definitely a place to keep in mind.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

We went to Torino for dinner based upon a recommendation of a friend. When you arrive the wait staff explains the concept of the food and drink menu. The food menu is set each week, and you have no choice except to pick 3 or 5 courses. We picked the five courses, and if you are hungry I would pick this because the dishes are not large. You also have an option to order a wine flight to match your dishes. Our waitress told us that it equated to 3.5 glasses of wine so we just ordered a cocktail each which were very good. We really enjoyed all of the food. The courses were creative and tasty. They were brought at a nice pace that allowed us to enjoy conversation. At the end of the meal they brought out very good coffee. We will definitely be back.
