Owner description: The Holocaust Memorial Center Zekelman Family Campus opened in 1984. Local Holocaust survivors, with community support, founded the museum to teach about the senseless murder of millions, and why everyone must respect and stand up for the rights of others if the world is to prevent future discrimination, hate crime and genocide. As Michigan’s only Holocaust museum, the Holocaust Memorial Center annually touches the lives of more than 85,000 individuals, who leave the museum profoundly affected with a newly acquired sense of history, social responsibility and morality. The Holocaust Memorial Center’s exhibits create a call to action, teaching visitors through the examples of those who risked their lives to save others, and asking its guests to react to contemporary challenges such as racism, intolerance, bullying and prejudice.

“Amazing”

I liked all of the information that was given along with authentic pieces and videos. Everything was in chronological order but was hard to follow what was in line next. Expect to stay at least 2 hours... LOVED IT

“Very moving and sad, good info on Jewish culture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

I love the place. Very moving and sad, good info on Jewish culture. Helps Jews to feel proud of their heritage and reminds of horrors of history. G-d willing Not to be repeated again.

“Impressive and very educating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

Coming originally from Germany, I have seen a few holocaust memorials like the ones in Berlin, Buchenwald, Dachau and Washington DC. Even more, the holocaust memorial center in Farmington Hills was a very positive surprise, both for the well structured exhibition and how impressive the stories of involved people are illustrated. You can either focus on specific aspects of the Nazis and their crime against humanity or learn how the history and events of the nineteen-thirties and forties developed. For first time visitors, I recommend to join the guided 1pm tour which offers an easier and very educating access to the burdensome topic.

“This is the visit you have to make.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

This is the visit you have to make. In a culture that thinks history began the day they were born, and has little knowledge of the atrocities of Nazism and the political philosophy that was and is rotten to the core, this is the place to got to learn of the wickedness of many without a moral compass. This is our second visit. You find yourself going around in silence like in a cemetery.
