This Hotel was the worst I have ever experianced. 80 degrees outside and I was on the 15th floor. It was so hot.
Air conditioner didn't work, No hot water pressure in shower,Sleeping on the floor would have been softer than the bed. TV went out. Hallways smelled like urine, People smoking in the elevators, Throwing up outside the main doors. There was a Rave party going on. It was so loud too after midnight. This was the worst place you could imagine. When I called about the air conditioner, I was told there was nothing they could do. Just wanted to know when I was checking out. I will pay the extra $80 to stay somewhere else.

  • Liked — The door had a lock
  • Disliked — Air conditioner did not work, it was about 90 dregrees in the room

I love this place its a frequant haunt... its not a place for young kids or the timid... i frequent the clubs as well... as i am local i love the place I also have friends that live there ... the hotel itself is haunted no question about it late at night if you stay far up from the clubs you will hear foot steps and i know for a fact a woman has jumped off of the building landing head first on the concrete by the party store.... this place is great, cheap, historical and fun!
if you plan on having a blast i would book early for new years weekend and party it up!

Our room was tiny and old and run-down. There were two working outlets in the whole room. The tv is a 1975 model. There was however, a microwave and rather large fridge which came in handy for beer storage. The location is near everything downtown, but it is still a scary walk to anything and I'm not exactly a scrawny person. The 24 hour diner downstairs, which by the way serves beer all night, was nice to have and the waitresses are all very friendly. All the staff that we ran into were friendly and helpful.

I wouldn't exactly recommend this place to my grandma, but for a few dudes just up there to party and have some fun, this is a good and cheap place to stay.

  • Liked — The location...5 minute walk to MGM Grand, Ford Field and Comerica Park.
  • Disliked — The homeless people and the creepout bartender in the bar across the street.

Our stay at the Leland was a great experience. It's a beautiful building that has a lot of character. If you're not expecting a five-star hotel, it's definitely worth checking out. We plan to return to Detroit again and stay at the Leland.

I have no clue where these other people stayed at but this hotel was clean and average. The best part is the beautiful lobby. Such a gorgeous building. The staff was friendly and the elevator was the absolute fastest elevator I have ever been on.

What the hell do people expect in Detriot? A 4 star hotel? That is quite laughable.

Stay here if you want an average room in a building with beautiful architechture.
