Really starting to clean up not the same city people remember from the 80's and early 90's. Lots of new construction and attractions, our lady Detroit boat trip takes you out on the lake for dining and dancing while looking at the city and surrounding areas. Greektown restraunts and gambling. River walk recently renovated with a shopping district and even more dining also in the mits of a multimillion dollar china town and much more.

Detroit has quite a group of early 20th century office buildings, that didn't get destroyed in the 60s. And a few very modern ones like Renaissance Plaza and the Compuware building.
In partcular go into the lobby of the Guardian Building, 500 Griswold Ave.
Very helpful to appreciate them was a walking tour by the non-profit Preservation Wayne:
