I had book this hotel for the night before our wedding for my girls and I to stay and get ready in and for my husband and I to stay in the night of our wedding. To start out with the positive, its a great view and the room is very spacious. Now, beyond the original time I came in for the booking, when the lady who helped me was the nicest ever, I had encountered nothing but helpless, rude and incapable staff. When I stopped by the afternoon before just to show my photographer around the area, I was greeted with a comment that they have plenty of other brides who stay there (as if I was under the idea that I am the only one in the universe to ever get married and want to stay in a hotel and may have a few questions). We checked in on Friday, right before we set up the reception space for the following day and again were greeted with rudeness and condescending remarks. We did not come back to the room until way late after the rehearsal, the dinner and some time with family and friends. That evening one of the girls took a shower since we had to be at the salon at 8 am with hair washed and two of us took showers the next morning. Overlooking the peeling wallpaper in the shower and the leaky shower curtain, I was surprised to find out that there were a grand total of 2 towels in the whole room that sleeps up to 6 people. We called the front desk at 7am to see if we could get another towel and were told no and that the housekeeping would not be in for another hour or so. Two of us had to use the same towel, luckily we love each other enough that it wasn't too awkward. Upon return to the hotel after the salon, we had to find a spot for the photographer to take a few snaps of the dress and we got greeted with a rude comment to not hang the dress where we were trying to. Not a big deal except for the rudeness and the tone with which we were addressed. The next morning my husband and I woke up and realized that we only had 15 minutes until the 11am checkout, when we called to ask for a slight extension or a late check out we were flat out told no, no explanations.
In all honesty, we had a perfect wedding weekend. Our ceremony/reception at the Rattlesnake Club could not have been any better! It exceeded my expectations, my only regret was choosing to stay at the Robert's Riverwalk Hotel. If I could do it again, I would have stayed at Greektown Casino Hotel, where we put up our guests, their experience there was nothing but pleasant, which is the opposite of what I could say for a higher price!!!!
Finally, the first time there, I spoke with a super helpful lady who said that if our wedding party and guest were interested in a bar after the reception, they would keep their bar open. So I called a week prior spoke to the manager who said that it was arranged. I spread the word to ALL of the guests. When they walked down there at midnight, they were told by the bartenders that they were closed. Sweet way to lose business and A LOT of money. Greektown should thank you, Roberts Riverwalk for your business!
DISAPPOINTING! Enough said.
Stay out!!!!!! Unless demeaning is your favorite type of service.
