Six of us went to the Detroit Auto Show on Feb.21st. We decided to go to lunch/dinner at Mexicantown, as none of us had been there, but, had heard good things. There are quite a few Mexican restaurants within a few blocks of each other, thus the area being called "Mexicantown".
Without getting specific on everyone's orders, the food arrived quickly, our server was efficient and very friendly, and everyone stated that their food was excellent. Wished I had known they served liquor. I would have loved a Margarita with my dinner. The food is cheap and they serve huge portions. Someone had mentioned in a previous review, that the food was cold. Ours was so hot, we had to wait for it to cool.
The restaurant had a steady stream of incoming customers, leading me to believe that this place is quite popular. Looks like they have outdoor seating in the summer, which could be alot of fun. Because I am not real familiar with Detroit, it was a bit sad to see block after block of closed businesses, boarded up homes and streets that were desolate. Looks like many of the homes in Mexicantown have been restored, as we saw a few blocks with homes that showed pride in ownership.
Would we return to Mexicantown restaurant? Absolutely! But, think I'd like to try one of the other restaurants in the area first.
