“Won't be on my "stay" list again!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

OK, let's have the positives first--it was clean, it was cheap, it was convenient. If that's all you're looking for and you don't mind old, it's ok. Old is not the word to describe this place. I think the Model T in the lobby was the newest thing in the place! The pictures on the website look good, but in person, it's pretty dismal. I was attracted by the inside entries, and cheap price. The "inside entry" to our room didn't latch unless you pulled up on the handle and shoved with your shoulder! You could see light (from the hall) all the way around it. Too boot, both mornings we went back, the house keepers had failed to make the door latch! Thank goodness we left nothing of value in the room. It was clean: no bugs, mice, rats, roaches, all that! Then, there was the heat.....radiator heat--I turned it down and woke up freezing, I turned it up and woke up sweating. I finally left it on and cranked the a/c up to compensate. Then, there's the neighborhood.....it's right on the edge of not-so-good and ok. Turn back towards Detroit and you're greeted with at least 1 strip joint per block, until you get to the burned out buildings and panhandlers. If you turn the other way--away from downtown--it gets better each block and you're not far from the mall......on the border at best. There's a Pizza Hut across the corner and a Frisch's a block down--both look better in the daylight. It needs an overhaul....yeah, with a bulldozer or a gallon of kerosene and a match! The staff was not overly friendly, but cordial. It's just nowhere I'd like to stay again! No knowing ANYTHING about the Detroit area we picked it mainly because of the price and location. I'm sure there are plenty of places just as close and at least as inexpensive. Don't stay!

If you are looking for a place to stay while visiting the Detroit metro area on business
stay away from this place bed bugs roaches need i say more. I was surprised that this place hasn't been condemned by the city. When i complained to the management a (grumpy old gentleman) he just shrugged it off like huh did you say something. My stay was not a very pleasant experience. Nice safe area that's about it. Would not recommend this place to my dog

After reading other reviews I was not going to stay here, but the location was great and looked safe. Once inside I found the staff friendly , rooms clean and it was quiet, there was plenty of hot water and yes the rooms are outdated and it looks old but for the price it was great.. Travelers who want a 4 star experience will not be happy but if you are looking for a value close to downtown than its a great place to stay. I will be staying there again

We are English tourists who have visited the States 10 times staying at 10-12 hotels each trip but this hotel was not a good choice. It badly needs bringing up to todays standards. The room was dismal and shaby. The carpet must be at least 30 yeards old and the beds were ex-Marriott (labels still on them) and past there best. The bedding and towels were clean but the bathroom was very basic with no shelf to put anything on.
Despite being in a wheelchair they had the ramp painted and out of use when we arrived back on our second day. I am sure they could have waited one more day until we had moved out. Only 4 TV chanels available and as there was a terrfic thunderstorm the day we arrived we had to stay in which was very depressing. Would not recommend it.

We are sorry to hear that you were not happy with your stay. We would like you to know that since you stayed here we have renovated many aspects of our hotel. We have new carpet throughout the entire building and have replaced all of our bedding plus many other upgrades. We hope you will have the opportunity to come see all of the work we have done.

Very disappointed in this hotel. We had four rooms and they were all bad. The hotel is very outdated, needs repairs, has things broken or unfunctional, and found unfamiliar pieces of hair in some of the beds
and stains on some of the sheets. I never saw a maid during our entire visit. The elevator was not working or was very slow so we had
to use the stairs. The doughnuts for breakfast were powdered and cake
and tasted like they had been frozen and unthawed they were also very
stale. Our stay was not a very pleasant experience.

  • Liked — It was close to where we needed to go
  • Disliked — Eveything else

I stayed there the 9th august and found it to be the worst hotel ive seen in my life. The room was not cleaned, found cigarette in a non-smoking room. everything was dirty, with spiders in the bathroom. The front desk person was not nice and for 59$ plus taxes it is a rip off. Furthermore, there are a lot of hotels in this area which are better. avoid it by any mean.

I recently booked four rooms at the Best Value Inn in Dearborn, Michigan for my team. The price for the rooms were very reasonable, considering we had four guests in each room ($59.99n + tx). The property is a bit hard to find considering that Michigan Avenue isn't marked coming from the direction I traveled (I-75 N). The hotel is an older property, thus the rooms are a bit smaller than what's expected with newer properties. The front desk clerks were very cordial and accomodating.
The visible parts of the room were very clean, but in one room we moved a couch and found a nylon under it. That was the lone isolated incident with regards to cleanliness. As far as comfort goes, the beds were fine, but I definitely recommend you bring your own pillows. The pillows are very flat and uncomfortable. Other than that, everything was pretty typical. There is a smaller gated parking lot outside the property which is free to guests. Coffee and doughnuts in the lobby await you. Don't hesitate to book at this property if you are a frugal traveler.
