“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2011

The Henry was willing to go the extra mile at every turn. We showed up hoping for an early check-in at 1230 and they readied a room within fifteen minutes. We asked for a refrigerator and got one within five minutes. I also needed to edit and email a document and they even made their own computers available to me, all the while extending every courtesy. It was very clear they have their guests interests in mind.

This property was a Ritz-Carlton in its past life and it is very luxuriously appointed in most areas and feels very small & almost like a country inn in the public areas. Excellent rooms, nice size, great mattress & bedding. Excellent property for business stays with large desk/work station area in room. Pool & exercise facilities are very nicley appointed & well maintained.

From the time we checked in until our check out date, the staff at The Henry was amazing! Everyone treated us like queens & kings. The food was great and the atmosphere is beautiful. This made our trip to see family so much nicer.

My husband and I stayed here for a marriage retreat at the end of September. The building is absolutely gorgeous, and everyone was extremely polite and helpful... until we needed something. We requested a room with a refrigerator (the retreat started at 8 am, so we wanted to bring some yogurt and a few smoothies for a quick breakfast), and we were happy that request went through. However, the next morning, we needed spoons, and it took two phone calls and 45 minutes to receive them. Fast-forward to that evening, and we came back to a room that wasn't cleaned -- at 5:00 pm. We called for a maid to come up, and then left to run an errand. We got back at 6:00 pm, and the room still hadn't been touched. After calling again, they finally sent someone to take care of our room. However, we returned to wrinkled linens and no coffee/tea. We complained to the front desk, and the housekeeper returned. She informed us that she was the only person working that night, and apologized profusely for the quick job that she did on our room. We actually ended up feeling sorry for her because she was an older lady, and it's a huge hotel. After all of this, someone from hospitality brought us six chocolate-covered strawberries, which was a great apology. However, given the caliber of the hotel, you'd expect things to be done right the first time.

Awesome location top room was cozy but with more than enough space for one person. Bathroom very modern! The Henry is in the most perfect location just a couple minutes from the train station. ( you can drag your luggage easily from the station to the guest house) Service was friendly and professional with a beautifully cooked breakfast. I don't normally go for b&b but it's layout lent itself to total privacy. Base yourself here while you explore the town and surrounding areas. Great value!

Enjoyed ourselves here for a recent wedding weekend. We booked under a block a rooms as the wedding festivities were to be in-house so it was an easy decision esp, for the price. The hotel welcomes dogs and was gracious to them. They charge an extra fee for room clean up but it was $75.00 for the entire stay for 2 dogs (there is a weight limit but no issues with our pugs) and since I refuse to board them I 'll always appreciate a dog friendly policy that does not rip off their owners. Service was professional and attentive and nicely sincere. A young gentleman greeted us in the lobby and helped us to the room with our belongings(not an easy feat considering my 1 pug is paralyzed and uses a dog cart) had such a pleasant manner we were able to get into the room quickly and with little stress . A friendly housekeeper brought our refrig to our room and made such a fuss over the dogs as she owned a dog and pronounced she loves them that she even offered to walk by and alert us if there was an concern as we would be downstairs at the wedding party. How terrific! The hotel gym is nice and the pool area was small but I was basically by myself Sat. and Sun afternoon. Loved the convenience to The Henry Ford Museum which we visited Sat. Brunch on Sat. AM in the Hotel was delicious and with a great wait staff.Pricey but we appreciated that it was offered.
My negatives were the dryness of the hotel room and the inability to decrease heat (only to 60 degrees) and fan mode not strong enough I suggest you sleep with a bottle of water close be. I made arrangements for fridge and notification that I travel with the dogs on making reservations and inquired to policy ,walking areas proximity etc as I pride myself to be a good guest with my dogs. I did this on reservations ,email and followup call to hotel. On check-in they had no record of the dogs and informed it would be $100 and there was no refrig in room as requested. In all fairness both were resolved quickly but it was a small annoyance at the start. Would like access to gym and pool without having to cross a main 1st floor hallway.I was in my hotel robe and with a towel on my head after being in the whirlpool and had to share the elevator with other guests . Humor worked great in the situation.
I would recommend this hotel hands down.

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room as I am a terrible sleeper and the room chosen was great. Not a sound heard...
