“Fine, albeit a bit pricey for the location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Hotel is smart and clean, with nice rooms. I am assuming that most people who stay here are on business trips visiting Ford (which apparently owns the hotel), though perhaps a few tourists do come specifically to see the Henry Ford Museum, which is very close by, and which I would certainly recommend. The hotel seemed a little pricey given the location, and given that it didn't seem at all full in the week I visited. At least I was given what I assume was an upgrade to the "concierge block", which included free breakfast. Then again they charged almost $14 a night (incl tax) for wifi: I think it's about time hotels stopped charging extra for internet access, which costs them almost nothing, and perhaps it's about time that we, TripAdvisor members, started protesting at being charged for this.

We have stayed at several historic hotels and this was the best. The rooms were very large, the room was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. The entrance is breathtaking and reminded us of the entrance to the Homestead. It is only fifteen mind to Detroit and the airport. If ever staying in Detroit again I would definitely choose this hotel.

My husband and I booked a Honeymoon Suite for our wedding night. I told them when I booked the room that we would not be checking in until VERY late, at least 11:00 pm or later. The day before the wedding, I called to remind them that we would be there late, so please don't give our room away. Well, wouldn't you know it! When we checked in at 11:00, THEY GAVE OUR ROOM AWAY! They stuck us in a tiny room as big as a walk-in closet. We were very upset. We tried for months to try to get some kind of compensation, and they pretty much told us to kick rocks. Gee, thanks!!!!!!

This is a first class experience. Elegant, superb service. You will not be disappointed. Well worth the cost. Great place for a romantic weekend. Outstanding dining, very close to great shopping and The Henry Ford. Celebrate an anniversary here, get married here. Any kind of celebration works well here.

Whatever you do, ask for a high floor room. I am a Marriott Platinum member and always request high floor rooms. Although I had reservations two weeks in advance, I was stuck on a ground floor room and was told no other rooms were available. The room itself was comfortable and spartanly decorated, but bland. The double size bed is truly a double size. My feet hung off the end.

The worst experience however was because of the drunk idiots they let stay here. Although I was in the "Concierge" wing with key only access to the floor, a bunch of drunk guys were yelling and being rambunctious in the hallway at 2:45am, 3:30am and 4:30am... they kept going through the hall to the outdoor exit to smoke. Finally, upon their last entry back inside I stopped them in the hall and told them to shut the heck up.

On a positive note, the lobby and bar area are reminiscent of the Henry Ford area and are very relaxing and pristine.

Room Tip: High floor room away fro the exits.

I was here for a wedding and had a great time. Th hotel is perfect for a wedding and the rooms and grounds are super great.

I had a great stay and would come back here just to getaway sometime. I was given an upgrade just for asking which I always love. Nice staff and I like the lobby.

At a recent family wedding, the professionalism and pleasant hospitality of the staff here was A+ continuing the pattern we experienced at other events! This is a wonderful venue! The Henry Ford Museum with the Lego Exhibit was easily accessible also.
