“They must never be forgotten”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

This museum will ensure that our brave lads who defended our skies over South East England in "The Battle of Britain" will never be forgotten. The amount of work that has been put in by the staff together with their enthusiasm and knowledge has to be commended. There is too much to mention so just go and see for yourself why we should appreciate our freedom made possible by all the men and women in the second world war that made the ultimate sacrifice. About 3 miles from the museum is the "The National Memorial to the Few" at Capel-le-Ferne the site at Capel-le-Ferne is dedicated to Churchill’s famous “Few” who fought in the skies overhead to keep this country free from invasion.
The Memorial Wall lists the names of all those who took part in the Battle of Britain, while a replica Spitfire and Hurricane stand nearby as a reminder of the iconic machines they flew to victory. There is also a nice little coffee and gift shop.

“See it & never forget”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Having lived in the locale for 10 years, it took a French student staying with us to get us there.
It was a typical English early summers day - rain, mist & a tad chilly, so when we arrived at the museum I was a little concerned as it all looks a bit tired & not particularly welcoming - especially when one considers exactly what it's all about & why it's there.
However - don't be put off. It is a remarkable experience - & at times really quite moving.
All the exhibits are housed in various hangers except for the Spitfires outside on the grass: real fighter planes; planes from movies; bits of planes; guns; uniforms etc etc. In addition, there are some amazing stories of bravery & heroism, from both the perspective of the airmen as well as the general population.
The volunteer staff were incredibly knowledgeable & helpful, & obviously got a thrill from the small children running amok enjoying themselves immensely - "I've found a model of a Lancaster", "well I've found a REAL Spitfire!!". It was also, & I know it's a little hard to believe, of great interest to the 15 year old French boy who was with us!
My dad fought in the war & never spoke about it, so to see all of this & be able to learn exactly what life was like for these guys, and how they gave their lives without thought for themselves was incredibly moving.
Places like this must be allowed to carry on - we must never forget their ultimate sacrifice - please visit this very British attraction & make sure it will be around for all our grandkids to visit.

“Wonderful place to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

We found a reference to the museum in a travel guide and really just ended up there for the last couple of hours on a wet afternoon in June. Wow! What a place. The staff are great and the amount of information and items here is absolutely amazing. Don't just go for an hour; make a day of it and really immerse yourselves in the atmosphere. The personal stories are very poignant and, even if you think you know all about the Battle of Britain, please go to support this wonderful place. We ended up being the last there as they were about to close, but could have stayed for hours more!
