“a great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

We stayed at the cabin (not the Lodge) for a week and loved it. It is very well maintained, sunny and private. On a colder day we used the fireplace and electric heating and it kept it very warm. The lake is across the road, a short walk to several small rocky beaches. Bigger, sandy beaches are a short drive away. Copper Harbor restaurants, post office, grocery store, light house harbor, park and various trails are all also a short drive or bike ride away. There is a good number of bike riding trails and hiking trails that are all very safe. A bike rental place in Copper Harbor has a good selection of bikes and provides all needed information. This has been one of the best active vacations for our family in a very quiet and scenic area. There is no cell phone service in this area but the owners at the Lodge have a phone we were allowed to use. The phone service is back a few miles down the road towards Eagle Harbor. Most restaurants in Copper Harbor have wifi and provide passwords so you can upload your emails! The cabin has only one bathroom but we found it ideal despite that. We kept the windows open every night listening to the waves - truly a great place.

We spent two nights at Dapple-Gray. What a great find! Amazing setting and beautiful accomodations. Friendly "homey" relaxed atmosphere. Delicious full breakfasts - homemade banana bread and jams, Ruth's scrambled eggs and Ole's Eggs Benedict were scrumptious. We'll be back!

We stayed one night at Dapple-Gray. A beautiful log lodge....looked new and was extremely clean. Seashell room was beautiful and had everything you would need. The owners were friendly and gracious...breakfast was good and plentiful....sausage and eggs....homemade jams. Certainly best place to stay near Copper Harbor. Felt a little overwhelmed in common areas with the antiques. Otherwise a good stay in an otherwise remote area.

Room Tip: We did not see the other rooms but there are no kings available. Seashell room very nice with two d...

My husband and I stayed at the Dapple Grey last September and loved it - it was one of the high points of our UP trip. Ole and Ruth are fine hosts and serve a mean breakfast with many items locally sourced. The establishment houses not only the B&B, but also a wonderful antique store; many antiques furnish the rooms as well. If you like antiques, you will love talking shop with Ruth.

Cell phone service does not work in the area, as noted in other reviews; they have WiFi that is a bit difficult to connect to in the Great Room (we had to stand and hold our devices over our heads to finally connect) but once we managed to connect it worked fine from our private room as well for the rest of our stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lincoln room and enjoyed the view of Lake Superior from the large deck outside the...

I got the most wonderful birthday present, a night at this fantastic B&B. Wonderful hosts, beautiful area, snow covered pines and ice covered rocks on the shores of Lake Superior. We really loved this place, and the antiques and taxidermy are a bonus. Will definitely be going back!

Room Tip: There are 4 themed rooms, all face Lake Superior, all wonderfully furnished.

This is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. We stayed for three nights last July and enjoyed the breakfasts, the dogs and the ambiance. What puzzled us was the lack of service to our room. Usually at a bed and breakfast, rooms are made up and towels and washcloths replaced. This was not done during our stay. There were extra cloths and towels in the room, but when we ran out and asked Abe for another set, he replied he didn't have any extra and would have to do another load in the washer. We never did receive replacements and had to reuse. Our garbage overflowed and glasses piled up as well. Seems for the price we paid, we should've received some room servicing. Sitting on the balcony was great - we did have bats flying around whcih drove us inside early. Been nice if their droppings on the chairs and deck would've been removed as well. In my opinion, this is the best place to stay in the Copper Harbor area, just a little unusual about the lack of service.

Best B and B we have been to in the State....

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lincoln Room. Very cozy and full of History. Perfect view.....You have the whole...
