“Very Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2008

Have stayed at the Minnetonka for many years and have enjoyed every visit. The rooms and cabins are clean and taken care of daily by a polite, friendly staff. Have stayed in both the cabins and the motel and have had a relaxing, restful stay. Have recommended it to both friends and family and they have also been very pleased.

  • Liked — The friendliness of the staff and it is within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and Lake Superior.
  • Disliked — Can't think of anything I did not like.

Made reservations at the last moment and was told if we needed to cancel they would give us 24 hours to do so without charging us rather than the normal 48 hours. We drove 10 hours up to our first nights accomadations (couldn't get reservations at our first choice for all nights which is why we booked rooms at the Minnetonka "Resort"). When we got to our first choice they'd had a cancellation for the next 2 nights so we booked those and drove over to the Minnetonka to give them their 24 hours notice.

They where BEYOND rude about it. Agrued with me over the 24 hours notice thing, saying they had never told me that. And proceeded to not only bill me for that night but the next night too. ABSOLUTE HORRID PEOPLE, AND THE PLACE LOOKS LIKE A DUMP!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Found the Minnetonka while looking for a room in town without reservations. Was showed a room that was dated, but very clean and tidy. Actually, it's almost perfectly 60s retro looking from the furniture to the fixtures to the hardware.

I found no problem with the hot water. Comes with a small refrigerator in room.

  • Liked — Clean and Convenient
  • Disliked — Lack of internet access.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2002

We booked a cabin at the Minnetonka Resort in Copper Harbor for Labor Day weekend. When making the reservation, I asked about bringing our two (well-behaved) dogs. The reservationist told me that the dogs would cost an extra $5 per dog per night. This seemed standard for all Copper Harbor accommodations allowing pets. When we arrived, the owner indicated that it was $10 per dog per night, making a $65 cabin into an $85 cabin. When I told him what I had been told, he just shrugged. The cabin was very small and poorly lit. One of the chairs broke when we picked it up to move it. There were two beds, one soft and squeaky, the other like a board. The cable TV reception was terrible (how does that happen?). The kicker was that there appeared to be one hot water tank that fed all cabins (eight to ten). Cold showers are expected when camping, but not here. Neither my husband nor I slept well for two nights, and we decided to check out early and head for home.
