“Charlevoix AmericInn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

We live on an island offshore from Charlevoix, Michigan and as a consequence we are often in need of a room. The people at the AmericInn have always treated us fairly and kindly! Rooms are clean and neat and their jacuzzi tubs when available are always a nice treat! The "suite" rooms allow you and your travel companion(s) to watch TV in two seperate areas without interference with each other. The hotel sits off the highway enough so that it is very quiet and, in fact, the suite rooms are over the front desk and I have never heard a noise from below. The swimming pool (enclosed) is very nearby and has easy access.

Being only 3-4 miles from town gives one a great feeling of being in the country yet close to downtown Charlevoix and directly across from the Charlevoix Country Club which has a new owner and a new restaraunt called Shanahan's which has some good fare! You can go down to the lobby in the morning (or most any time of day) for a hot cup of coffee. They have 2 or 3 types sitting there. Also their free breakfast area compares to any we have seen up and down throughout the midwest!

They recently redid the beds with pillow tops (I think :-) ) and installed all flat screen TV's and good sized ones at that! All in all the Charlevoix AmericInn is as good a value as you will find in a family hotel and we strongly recommend it!

Stayed here Saturday night over Venetian Nights in Charlevoix. Last room we could find in the area and the price was HIGH! Nice room, nice beds, plenty of hot water and had the pool to myself. Breakfast was good, variety of fruits, pastries, waffles, sausage gravy/ biscuits, yogurt, cereals etc. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay again if the price was lower.

We have stayed at many hotels . We found this one to be clean, beautifully decorated and the staff very nice and helpful. The prices are extreemly reasonable for the area. It is just a few minutes from downtown and has wonderful nature hike trails across the street. The breakfast had both cold and hot items along with those that were healthy. Loved our stay!

This was a very pleasant stay...staff, facilities, everything wonderful. Great walking area in the morning. Would highly recommend. The bed was great. Breakfast was good. Off the beaten path and high traffic area of Charlevoix, but just minutes away. We stayed here to catch the ferry to Beaver Island the next morning and it worked out great!

This hotel is a couple of miles outside Charlevoix and is right across the road from a nice hike/ bike trail. There is a big pool. The hotel staff was efficient and friendly. Our room was spacious and clean with a comfy king bed. The problem was that the room was located on the balcony right above the registration desk and was open to the lobby and breakfast area. So, around 6:30 in the morning we were awakened by a crying child in the breakfast area. Between fussy children, the beeping of the waffle griddle and general hubbub of the lobby/breakfast it was very noisy in our room from 6:30 on. The breakfast had fewer choices than any of the other chain hotels we stayed in this trip and the water was barely warm in " hot" water carafe.

Room Tip: Unless you are a heavy sleeper, don't accept a room whose door opens onto the lobby balcony.

Rode all day in 90 plus on a motorcycle trip. The hotel was like an oasis! Very clean, wonderful pool, excellent staff and good breakfast. Have stayed at several AmericInns and never disappointed. Highly recommend!
