My husband, two children, and I stayed at the Radisson Bloomfield Hills for one night, July 20. I had read reviews previously, so I was fully aware that this was an older, scaled down "Radisson" property. What I wasn't aware of was the fact that they had recently suffered flooding (which the front desk staff vehemently denied when asked). As we walked into the main hall, we immediately noticed that the moulding and the walls had suffered recent water damage. Huge fans were installed further down the hall. Our room was on the first floor, which is below the main lobby floor. As soon as we got to the first floor hall, the smell of mold and humidity level hit us. We went into our room (108) only to discover that the stench of mold and humidity was even more intense. I immediately went back to the front desk and asked to be moved to a different level. The only solution I was offered was another room on the first floor. Having explained that the entire first floor reeked of mold, and having asked about the water damage, the person at the front desk shrugged his shoulders and repeated that the only solution would be another room on the same floor. Realizing this was an exercise in futility, we decided to stay in the original room, and turn up the air conditioning in hopes of refreshing the room. It got colder, but the stench stayed. We asked for a cot to be delivered for our son. After 2 calls and another visit to the front desk, the decrepit cot finally arrived. It was basically a collection of springs covered in a thin sheet. An hour after falling asleep, we were awakened by our son who was saying that there was water dripping on him. True enough, there was water dripping from the ceiling, right onto him. DISGUSTING!!! We slept to the sound of the drip and the carpet becoming increasingly soaked. Morning finally arrived, and by now we're all sneezing and coughing. When we checked out the person on duty assured us that this would be reported to the manager, (who was not in at the time) and that we would be contacted the following day (Monday). She agreed that the room was unfit for guests. Five days, and three calls later, I have yet to speak to the manager on duty at the Bloomfield Hills Radisson. Whenever I call, he is unavailable, and the promise is always there that I will be contacted. I called the Radisson Customer Service number to make a formal complaint and was given a "tracking number" and assured that I would receive a followup call from the Bloomfield Hills Radisson. That should be today. Hope that happens. Overall this is not only an old property in need of restoration, it is a property that has WATER DAMAGE and MOLD. I would NEVER recommend this hotel, especially if traveling with children. My recommendation is to LOOK ELSEWHERE. Customer service is NON EXISTANT, as evidenced by the lack of response to attempts to make contact.
