We found our 1 bedroom condo with loft (sleeps 8/6) in the Ridgewalk section to be quite spacious. Although it was a bit dated, the unit worked for us. As we walked in, the first thing that hit us was the ugly polka dot linoleum in the kitchen, which was straight out of the 1970’s. Upon further inspection, it was clean, and the small kitchen had all the necessities, including full fridge, stove, and microwave. Enough coffee filters and dish soap were provided for the whole week. The living/dining room area was adequate sized, and there was a TV with VCR/DVD player and sleeper sofa. The dining room table only seated 4, but there were 2 extra seats at the adjacent countertop. The master bedroom had a king sized bed and TV in the room. One thing that surprised us – the mattresses were clearly new pillow top, and were the best, most comfortable we have had in a timeshare. The bedroom furniture was in good condition. Upstairs, there were two double beds in the loft, again with the nice mattresses. Both bathrooms were plain but adequate, with plenty of spare towels. There was also a mid-week cleaning which surprised us. Since it was dark when we arrived, we didn’t notice the best part of the unit until the next morning – we had a fabulous view of Lake Bellaire and the Michigan sunsets from our balcony! Two things that we missed not having in the unit– a washer dryer unit and a TV in the loft for the kids.

The star activity at this resort is golf. Three were three courses on site, plus two others adjacent to the resort. My husband played The Chief – one of the newer courses close to the resort – and said it was the nicest course he has ever played. There were also two regular sized outdoor pools and an indoor pool/hot tub that we could use. There was also a disc golf course free for use on the ski hill during the summer. We didn’t try any of the restaurants on the property, as they seemed rather expensive. There weren’t any planned activities during the week that we stayed. Most of organized activities such as bonfires and evening entertainment for the summer season didn’t start until later in June.

The location of the resort was somewhat remote, but it was a central location for touring the beautiful towns along Lake Michigan. Some of the highlights for us included parasailing in Charlevoix, jet skiing on Torch Lake, climbing the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, swimming at the numerous beaches including the state park in Petosky, and touring the lighthouse and wineries in the Old Mission Peninsula. In terms of dining, we really liked the Grey Gables Inn in Charlevoix. For a fun and casual atmosphere with incredible milkshakes, try Don’s Drive Inn in Traverse City.

In summary, we very much enjoyed our trip and would return to this resort
