“Excellent Italian Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

Our group of 6 adults had dinner at Cafe Assisi on a Saturday night. The place was buzzing with locals and regulars. The atmosphere was exciting. The owner was on hand to great all guests and check on our dining experience at the end. The food was excellent. We all loved our meal. I had the lobster ravioli which was devine. We will definitely be back!

“Consistently Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

I almost hate to write this review, because it's hard enough to get a table here now, even with their recent expansion. We have been eating here for years and have never been disappointed. The food is amazing, probably the best Italian food outside of Boston's North End and Providence's Federal hill. In fact, it surpasses many of those urban eateries because it is not exclusively a "red sauce Italian" place and it doesn't cater to tourists. This is a family run business and you can sense the pride of ownership in everything from the service to the quality of the food.

My personal favorites are the antipasto, calamari and any of the veal dishes, but everything is good! I always leave feeling very satisfied and have enough food left over for lunch the following day.

Call ahead to see how long the wait is (there's always a wait unless you eat @ 5:00) and put your name on the waiting list.

“Nice Find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

I drive by the place every day going to work if it was not for my plumber I would have never found the place. Hard day working decided to go out to (don't do this make a rese on a weekend) dinner. A two hour wait or 40 minutes at the bar got the bar. The bartender was Sue? very nice quick informative. Had the Chicken Francese was very good however did not get all the peppers on the dish? My wife had the Prosciutto con Mozzarella it was very good but I do not liked smoked mozzarella and the Clams and pasta which was excellent. Wine prices are reasonable get a bottle instead of a glass. The desserts are mostly purchased but the Cannolis where good. The Maitre D' was excellent got us reserved for the bar got a bottle of wine for us and followed up very professional. free pizza while you waited!! BTW don't charge for soda water out of the gun... the restaurant was noisy but you could talk to each other

“Some nice changes. some not so nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2014

Recently met friends there to catch up. they have expanded the place since I have last been. The new dinig room is pretty, but still loud..a little difficult to talk casually. They no longer have a full bar, just beer and wine, which was a little dissapointing. 3 of us had the specials, a stuffed swordfish and a seafood risotto. The swordfish was excellent. The risotto lacked flavor and although it had quite a bit of seafood in it, seemed more like plain rice than the nice risotto we were expecting. I would stick to their Italian dishes the next time. Make sure you call ahead or make a reservation if going at a busy time.

“Local gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

Consistent, very good Italian food is the reason to go here. It's small and it's often busy but the atmosphere is friendly and the food and portions match many places in the North End.
