“Gem in the heart of Worcester”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

This small city museum has some great exhibits. Egyptian art to the Impressionists. Small enough so that one does not get weary wandering about. Special exhibits are a big draw, check their website.

“A wonderful day to chase the winter blues”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We recently again visited the Worcester Art Museum for their "Flora in Winter" and a special photo exhibit titled "Kennedy to Kent State", which has been extended until June. The photo exhibit was particularly interesting since my husband and I are of that generation. Each picture had a descriptive blurb. There were several videos housed in small "rooms", showing the lead up to the Kennedy assassination, another showing the music and fashions of the times, etc. We visited with another couple and all of us were enthralled with the memories these pictures brought back to us.

The museum itself is made up of an original building and add on. At the original entrance you enter into a large hall and find a beautiful mosaic moved from its original place onto the center of the floor. The second floor mezzanine gives lovely views of the mosaic below and off it you'll find viewing rooms.

There is a lovely small restaurant (open for lunch only) but if you just need a rest with a cup of coffee or tea and a sweet you can go to the cafe courtyard. We find the museum a perfect size--not overwhelming in size and not so crowded that you find yourself waiting to view some of the art work. The museum is fully wheelchair accessible.

“An art-lover's gem in central Massachusetts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

A great little museum with impressive collection including impressionist and post-impressionists. Interesting episodic exhibits, too including some great photography exhibits over the years. Free entry 10 AM to Noon the first Saturday of each month (used to be every Saturday).

“Flora In Winter was EXCELLENT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

I went with a friend today for the Flora in Winter, which got all around the museum. I had not been for several years as I live in the Boston area and tend to see museums around here. This is a gem and your reviews have said it all. We ate in the cafe and had a delightful lunch. It is a short trip there from the Boston area and well worth a visit. It is an impressive museum and I am going to return with friends for a docent tour.
