needing to submit this review again I am plerased to share that any stay in the 202 Suite Barnside can only be great. Hotel is perfectly located for the Berkshires and all it has to offer, the suite is perfectly decorated...full comfort...lovely decor and the sitting area and kitchenette/dining area the best...for any day that weather becomes inclement. The hosts, Sue and Dee are so hospitable...the breakfast room for the suites only is soothing...good to excellent food and presented very well... Without question I will retrun here..actually this spot would be great any season of the year. Claudine Franzson-Taylor UK

Room Tip: One should always choose a suite...the one I bhad with kitchenette facility simply the best...decor...

We arrived after driving by some beautiful views and foliage to a lovely place with equally lovely views. The Barnside suite we stayed in was even larger than we expected. As soon as we walked through the door we started to relax. The fireplace was the icing on the cake and used often throughout the weekend. No detail was missed and the pictures on the site don't begin to do it justice. The porch, the bridge, the brook all added to the picture. The complementary candlelight breakfast was served with a smile and had many things to choose from making us too full to even need lunch! We will definitely go back often and I wish we never had to leave. Even my fussy husband loved all of it. If I could give it higher than a 5 I would!!

Room Tip: Definitely choose the suites and Suite 206 on the end is nearest the brook and has the most windows...

The 1896 House in Williamstown MA should be your next destination! The suites are well thought out; the website does not do them justice! This is one of the most luxurious accommodations I have ever enjoyed in this area. The owner Sue's attention to detail is remarkable; be it the suite; the relaxing covered porch outside your door or the gourmet breakfast each morning. This place is the best value for your money by far. Stayed Labor Day weekend and I can't wait to go back! See my review of the '6 Pub next door!

Room Tip: Choose the Barnside Suites which include a gourment breakfast; but all rooms are luxurious in their...

We celebrated our 50th anniversary in rhe area with family and friends. It was a mid-point between southern NJ and upper New England. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful day and time with family. We stayed in the lovely barnside suites as well as brookside. There were 25 of us for two days. The service was superb! We had a great dinner together in the Pub's private dining room. Our waitress, Rebecca, was wonderful and attended to all requests with a smile. We made all arrangements for the dinner from northern Vermont and our son made all of the accomodation arrangements from Boston. Great people to work with!

Room Tip: The Barnside suites are lovely, but not necessarily child-friendly. No cell phone service, but ther...

The Barnside rooms of this motel- a separate part of this motel-are charming. They are large and lavishly appointed, with a gas fireplace. Breakfast is an event, and a delightful one, with a small, private dining room for the Barnside guests. An excellent cook/waitress makes the breakfast delightful. Barnside is certainly a bit pricey, but well worth it. (The motel also has lesser priced rooms with a separate dining facility).

Very nice and comfortable room at barnside part of 1896 House. Room was super-large with a mix of antique furniture but all modern conveniences including jacuzzi and dd player. Located just south of Williamstown and near a pleasant hiking trail at Sheep Meadow. Only criticism was that tv's in room need upgrading to flat screen. Tasty homemade breakfast included.

An ultra large room with seating areas, dressing room, large bath, fireplace, desk, outdoor deck, private dining room (suite guests), jet tub and morning newpaper. It doesn't stop there, On property is a restaurant and tavern, gas firepit, a stream with walking bridge, adirondack chairs and a gazebo. Also across the street in their other site (pond) is a swimming pool.
We've been coming here for a nice weekend for years. We started in the streamside hotel and as life allowed moved up to the barn suites. Martini's streamside are relaxing after a day of antiquing, hiking, swimming, museums or or before an evening of theater or music.
Before I finish I must give KUDOS to the STAFF. They are knowledgable, friendly, courteous and timely. Nothing less than top notch. Sometimes that is even more important than the space. But at 1896 whether you go barn suite, springside or pondside you get the staff, the grounds, restaurant/tavern and breakfast.
Reserve, arrive, enjoy.

Room Tip: Room 202 has canopy and double shower. Room 203-206 have extra high ceilings making is super spacio...
