“Overpriced food and unfriendly staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant while vacationing in North Adams. We wanted to eat at Mezze because of their use of local, organic ingredients. Their menu online looked decent and not too terribly expensive. Most of the waitstaff seemed nice but our main waitress was incredibly snobby and rude. She seemed annoyed that we wanted to share a glass of wine instead of each ordering our own. Her general attitude implied that we were not worthy of being in her presence. We each ordered a salad, i ordered the cheeseburger and my girlfriend ordered the lima bean stew, the only vegetarian entree on the menu. The salads were ok, but pretty simple and bland considering the price. The lima beans lacked flavor and seemed like something i would have been disappointed in if i had cooked it at home. The cheeseburger was fair, but i have definitely had a better burger for less money. The thing that pushed us over the edge though was the reaction i got when i asked for ketchup to go along with my burger and fries. The server who i asked looked uncomfortable and said she would ask if they had any. I knew then that i had made a mistake. The main waitress returned, looking upset. In a stern voice she informed me that they do not have any ketchup at mezze. She did not make eye contact or speak to either of us for the rest of our meal. Overall the food was mediocre and overpriced, and the ambiance pretentious and annoying. I would not recommend this restaurant.

“not up to par”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

dinner on New Years Eve - probably not the best time to go. have been there before with mixed results but wanted a nice place for dinner. first I bet the server was embarrased to serve the bread! visualize a slice of bread cut into four quarters and each person given a quarter. we tried not to laugh. also not a vegetable to be had other than fries, sweet potato puree and a few leeks? for a restaurant that states they use local produce I wonder where it was. winter squash and root vegetables would have been great and elevated an ok meal to better. I expect more from the restaurant and you should too.

“A well-deserved reputation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Locals will tell you that Mezze is the best restaurant in the area, and we were not disappointed. We shared an interesting and delicious tofu dish for a starter, then we had a vegetarian and a quasi-vegetarian dish for our main courses. Everything was delicious, fresh, and filing (we had no complaints at all about portion sizes or value for money). Very knowledgeable and attentive wait staff. A very good dining experience!

“It's just okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I don't mind spending a lot for a meal, as long as it's a good. Mezze was just okay. It's quite expensive for what you get. The lower-priced steak was rather fatty and the chicken breast was quite salty. Still, it's probably among the nicer restaurants in the Willamstown area.
