We've stayed here many times because of easy access to the theater festival venue and (most importantly) their flexibility in allowing one night stays (as opposed to many other Williamstown hotels that have two night minimums). But this place badly needs a make-over. We stayed in a "suite" with a pullout sofa that is comparable to a standard room at a Hyatt or Hilton in any major US city. The decor is straight out of 1972 or 1872 -- and not in a good way. For these prices, you expect more. The bathrooms are even worse than the sleeping rooms. Come on people -- time to freshen the place up. If you're going to have tacky vending machines and ice machines on each floor, they should at least work. One good thing is the swimming pool but the "sauna" again must have been built in 1902. It's creepy! I love you, Williams Inn, but you need a facelift.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the "new wing"

Stayed one night. The room was $195, which was overpriced but the options are limited in Williamstown. The furnishings were reasonably attractive in the main hotel sitting area. The rooms were your basic mid-range average hotel desk/dresser furniture. Ambiance was fine -- cleanliness, efficient and welcoming staff, etc. There was a cheese-cracker-fruit board late afternoon, but nothing complementary to drink. The free coffee in the morning needs an upgrade. Bottom-line, I'm looking for something more than basic for that price.

Room Tip: Williamstown is quiet

As has been mentioned by previous reviewers, this hotel is dated but certainly adequate. The room was clean, it was quiet (even though next to ice maker) and perfectly respectable. Very hot humid day so AC was definitely needed. A little noisy but most seem to be. I think all hotels are a little pricey but it is summer and it is the peak of their earnings season, so I guess it is understandable.Terrific location so that rather makes up for any shortcomings. All in all, a fine experience.

the group I was traveling with has been staying at this inn for years but this was my first time. I found the staff to be exceptional. The grounds immaculate and my room had new wall paper and was very clean. There was no refrigerator in the room but free ice . Our meals were prepaid and served in a private dinning area. The pre ordered continental breakfast consisted of oatmeal, assorted dry cereals pastries juice coffee tea and a fruit tray. we ate lunch and dinner at other venues until the last day. We had an elaborate brunch served buffet style at check out. This Inn is handicap accessible and pet friendly. If you are allergic take note. There is a privately owned gift shop open upon group request otherwise by limited posted times. There are many interesting artisan pieces reasonably priced. The area is walkable and lovely. There is some outside eating and a bar. The new Clark museum is close and worth experiencing. I saw a number of families with small children staying there and one small dog. There is bus service and immediate cab service at the door. I was singularly impressed with server Viktoria who is Icelandic by heritage. Note although there is free wifi and a free access computer Tmoble towers do not function in this valley surrounded by mountains.

Room Tip: The only rooms with a "view' are on the front of the building. However the grounds are mani...

Stayed at The Williams inn for two nights over the weekend for a wedding on campus. The hotel is fine; it is clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Didn't eat in the restaurant, but ordered room service which was fine. The hotel needs upgrading, I would describe the property as well kept, but tired and dated. For the money we paid and given the location, we had a completely acceptable stay.
