Well I was out there on a business trip to check out Crane's paper factories. I had just left the Essex House in NY (crappy food and room for the cost) to go to the Orchids. Although the bus driver forgot our luggage (4 hours away and there were 14 of us), I still had a nice experience. When I entered the hotel, it was dark and walking down the halls reminded me of my old Grandma's house; kinda creaky and old smelling. Well I went into my room and was blown away. The furnishings are amazing. There was a huge armoire, chaise at the foot of a King size canopy bed, dresser drawers in the "foyer" of the room, a wingback chair, a dining area, robes, an enormous bathroom and vanity, hand-crocheted bedspread and pillow cases, an inset in the window with a cushion so you can sit in the light and read or enjoy the view, and oh yeah...a fireplace.
The lobby area also had a fireplace and huge cozy sofas and a grand piano. It felt like we were in a very nice home. I had drinks with the others and when I retired to my room, I found homemade cookies on the nightstand and my crochet bedding turned down to find luxurious sheets underneath. I felt spoiled.
