“Great Cape Destination for Families”

Green Harbor on the Ocean

Our family has stayed at Green Harbor many times since the early 70's. Although it has grown a little over the years, it has remained an extremely well maintained and updated resort. I think what makes the property unique is its proximity to Hyannis (an easy bike ride or long walk to downtown Hyannis, along some nice back roads - so you avoid 28), the outstanding ocean / bay location & views, its accomodations (some of which are full size houses), and the attentive management - in fact, when we were last there it was still managed by the same family, who lives adjacent to the property. Not cheap by any means, but a very nice vacation spot with quite a bit to keep families entertained.

The same management staff has been there for many years. The point. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Dick and Eugenie have been doing a wonder job making sure the Green Harbor and it's staff are the best they can be.

We recently stayed at the Green Harbor Resort and truly enjoyed our stay. We rented a 3-bedroom cottage, which included plenty of space and a full kitchen - perfect for our family of 5. We were immediately impressed at the cleanliness of our cottage and the immaculate grounds of the resort.

Yes, this is a great place for families. Our kids (2, 5, and 7) had a wonderful time exploring the beach and playing on the playground equipment. We reminded them that it's a pretty unusual event to be able to have a playground right on the beach! There was also a semi-covered "porch" right by the play equipment, with rocking chairs for relaxing in while watching the kids play.

The only downside to our visit to the Cape was the weather - daytime temps were 50's/60's with very strong winds. Therefore we were never able to swim or take out the resort boat or canoe. The pool area was very large and would have been great had it been warmer.

Finally, the staff at Green Harbor is excellent! The lady at the front desk, the cleaning crews, and the grounds crews were all extremely curteous and friendly. As I checked out, I told her that we were very impressed with the resort, and we will definitely come back if we ever get to the Cape again!

We just returned from a few days at the Green Harbor. It was our first time there and we did not know what to expect.

We found a nice resort, in a very calm environment, far enough from the main roads but close to everything.

We booked a small unit with kitchen. We were also lent a small grill to cook outside. We had a nice view of the water.

The resort has it's own private beach with a playground and swings for kids. The water is calm and shallow. There is also a heated pool.

Units are a little dated inside but very clean. Outside the units have a typical, charming Cape Cod look. The resort is not too big so you can easily walk to the beach and the pool, even from the furthest units.

We were very impressed with the kindness of everyone at the resort. THANK YOU!!

It is a great resort for families, expecially if you have young kids. We had an amazing time with our 2 year old.

We will be going back for sure.

Our family of four stayed in a two-bedroom suite and enjoyed our week-long stay. The bedrooms are clean, well-maintained and comfortable. Bathrooms are the same. The kitchen is well-appointed for what we needed, with plenty of glasses and plates for breakfast in the morning and afternoon snacks. We ate out at nights, though our neighbors, who had very young kids, barbecued every night out back. We didn't find the chairs and sofa that comfortable, but that wasn't such a big deal. Housekeeping services daily; they're fairly thorough, though we found one spider in a shower. (There were also a few spiders out on the back porch. Big ones. But what can you do?) The staff is helpful and very friendly.

The walls are thick enough that you can't even tell you have neighbors, though the plumbing and the air conditioner can be a little loud at night. The place did not feel crowded despite being just about at capacity. We spent every afternoon at the pool, which was always in use but never overrun with young kids; the deep end was deep enough (about 11 feet, though it says 10) to keep it a mostly-adult zone.

The complex is far enough from Route 28 that it's a significant walk (heck, no small drive) to pick up any necessities, and there's no restaurant or coffee shop on the grounds, but its location in a secluded residential neighborhood makes it even more laid back. The views of Lewis Bay are picturesque; at night, the moonlight's reflection on the bay was awe-inspiring. The beach is small and full of rocks and shells, but with no waves to speak of -- the bay is very well protected from the ocean, which is what makes that moonlight reflect -- it's not like you're going surfing, anyway. The tide does produce a current, though, which makes rowboating and canoeing interesting when the wind blows.

It was a bit pricey, but with enough of us to split the cost, it wasn't bad, and we were all comfortable and well cared for. In all, we loved it and are considering it for a family reunion at some point.

Yes, there is plenty to keep you busy at the Green Harbor. When you do come again, try bike rentals, that is a very residental neighbor hood and I think you will enjoy the tranquility.

My fiance and I spent a long weekend at Green Harbor. We live in Rhode Island, just an hour and a half drive to the Cape. Living so close, we have heard plenty of horror stories about dingy, dilapidated hotels. (and there are plenty of them!) Using Tripadvisor I selected Green Harbor, although it was not my first choice. Going down the list of popularity, the top 3 were booked. It was because of availibility that I ended up at Green Harbor. With that being said, Green Harbor is a safe bet. The grounds are well maintained. The Cottage room looked as though it had been recently renovated. It was immaculate and kept clean the entire stay. When booking the room the reservationist stated it was a studio unit, king size bed, sleep sofa & kitchenette. Upon arrival I expected something larger (especially for the $280 price) however, it was a comfortable size for the two of us.
We are New Englanders, so no surprise about the quality of the sand and beach. (bring your beach shoes) I thought the beach was very nice, plenty of sitting space and the beach chairs supplied were a bonus. Also, Green Harbor is definately a family spot, but don't let that deter couples. It was surprisingly quiet for the amount of kids I saw.
What I loved about the Cape is that it was a great escape from the heat and humidity. (being breezy and cool along the water) Also, the golf courses, Bass River and Bayberry were exceptional. We really did not spend alot of time at the hotel. For this reason, I think there are better deals (less expensive) on the Cape to be found. If you want a sure thing, will take advantage of the beach and pool and of course do not mind paying the price, Green Harbor is for you.

Thank you for your comments. I do think we fit a special nich. That is families or couples looking for a quiet secluded room, or townhouse that can give you the comforts of home, instead of the four walls and a TV.
