“Your map link to Cedar Tree Neck Sanctuary!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

Cedar Tree Neck Sanctuary is located in the NW of MV in West Tisbury. It's spectacular and a gem as others relate here.
But your map link for Cedar Tree Neck Sanctuary is to a location about 1-2 miles south of Oak Bluffs in NE MV,a location that is inaccessible marsh!

“One of best walks on MV”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Great spot. Easy walk and a spectacular view when you come near the beach. A beautiful pond on your right as you walk through the dunes to the beach. Turn right and go about 100 yards and do the Headlands loop. Easy and really cool. Only better walk is Menemsha Hills. Oh and be careful on drive down to Cedar Tree Neck. It could kill some shock absorbers, but hey, it's worth it.

“Cedar Tree . . . Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

Cedar Tree is a gem of a sanctuary. There are a variety of trails all leading to the pebble beach overlooking the Vineyard Sound. There is no entry fee and the trails are all well marked. The walk to the beach in not strenuous and is worth the stroll. Note: There is no swimming for fishing allowed at the beach. It is a treat to be able to wander the beach however. A little off the beaten path but well worth the effort to get there.

“A slice of heaven in the Vineyard”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2011

We visited this location on a bicycle ride gone wrong or should I say long. We were staying on the southern central part of the island near Edgartown. We decided one morning to take a ride up around the sirport that lead us to this place because ... "we wanted to see the water".... well I would not highly recommend following our path which included biking all the way down to the sanctuary around 12 Noon. It was quite the workout, but well worth the effort.
The beachhead is beautiful and there was one other couple there the entire time we visited. You are not allowed to swim although we dangled our feet in the water and just enjoyed the striking view.
This would be a great place for those that are eco-minded including the younger folks. The sanctuary is divided up by oaths and there is a brochure available to help guide you through the various natural exhibits. It is accessible by car down a dirt road to the starts of the paths. The path to the beach is about a half mile.
We must have logged in the upwards of 18 miles on the bikes that day ... but our journey to see the water was great fun and this location was a true gem on an island with many a stone.

“Vineyard Hidden Gem - Local Secret get away!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2011

The Vineyard beaches in the summer are full of people 7 days a week. But the local know the hidden treasure spots. Visiting my friend who has been a full time Vineyard resident for the past 15 or so years....she took me over to Cedar Tree Neck Sanctuary on Sunday afternoon - 2pm on July 24th...there was not another soul on the beach. A short hike (would call it moderate) through the woods, up and down a small hill walks out onto this beautiful little hidden cove, great sand - calm waters. Worth the extra effort to find (down a few mile long dirt road) and then to make the short hike down to the beach.
Where else can you go mid summer on a beautiful day - and have the beach all to yourself?!
