Rouge is a stand out among many in the Berkshires. My business brings me to the Stockbridge area from time to time and I love when I have time to make a visit to Rouge. It had been a little longer than I like between visits and I was stunned by the beautiful addition that has made Rouge seem double the size. We enjoyed a wonderful cocktail and poked around in the new dining room. I want to see if my boss will consider using the private dining room in the back. The warm and spacious ambiance of the new addition really steps up Rouge a few well deserved notches in my book. This visit I didn't get a seat in one of the new comfy chairs but I certainly enjoyed the semi-private seat that was just past the bar and not too noisy.
Even though I have visited several times before, I never know what I will decide to have because the chef always has some tempting alternatives to my usual favorites!
This past visit I enjoyed the mussels, I just can't get enough broth to go along with the crusty bread. For my entree, I enjoyed the Rouge version of a cheese steak. I am not sure what cut of meet the chef used, but it was so tenderlike a filet. It was cooked exactly to order and the warm juices of my medium steak was the perfect companion the the reach and velvetly cream sauce that would make anyone from Philly jealous.
