Truc is one of my family’s favorite restaurants in this area. The food is fantastic and the service friendly. My favorite appetizers are: the Vietnamese raviolis, Truc’s special shrimp rolls, and the fried calamari. The Vietnamese raviolis are a delicate dish that is both crunchy and smooth in the same bite. Truc’s special shrimp rolls are fried golden brown, with a mild sweet sauce on the side. The fried calamari is crispy calamari in a sour, sweet sauce. For entrees my favorites are shaking beef, five spice chicken, and the happy pancake. The shaking beef is tender slices of beef in a tangy brown sauce on a bed of watercress, with a bowl of rice on the side. The five spice chicken is crispy, lightly fried and then smothered in an amazing five spice sweet and sour sauce. It comes with wonderfully chewy rice noodles. The happy pancake, one of Truc’s specialties is fried, and filled with an assortment of crunchy bean sprouts, mushrooms and your choice of meat. The sauce for the happy pancake is light and mouthwatering. The menu is extensive and includes vegetarian options as well. Truc’s location is especially convenient if you’re going to Tanglewood, Berkshire Theater, or Shakespeare and Co.
