I found this motel on Trip Advisor as a stopover half way between our home and our son's college. My most important criteria was price. At $50 per night, I was sceptical of the positive reviews and expected a seriously substandard experience.
The motel is clearly from an earlier age and looks like many old unfortunate establishments from the outside. But the rest of my experience was very good.
The desk service was friendly and efficient. I must have been the last guest expected that evening, because I was greeted by name. I was checked in and given my key quickly. The desk clerk (proprieter?) told me he had put on the heat to ensure the room would be at a comfortable temperature; and, it was. He called me in the room to ensure I was satisfied - a simple practice, but smart.
I stayed in Room 16, nonsmoking, with king sized bed. The room was in good condition and had adequate space for the bed. And, despite its old vintage, the room smelled clean. The room had TV (but I did not turn it on), a microwave and something I had never before seen: a stove/kitchen-sink all-in-one standalone unit. It looked like a museum piece from the 50s, but it sparkled as if brand new. Very importantly, the bathroom was very clean and had been updated - this is always a good sign in an old budget motel. The bed was firm and comfortable, and the bed linens were fresh and clean. They weren't luxurious and there was no super lofty comforter, but they were comfortable.
I could hear the nearby Massachusetts Turnpike, but it was not loud and traffic was very light at night.
I slept very comfortably and undisturbed. I had 7 hours sleep, was up early, and on the highway in minutes. Great value for $50. I will definitely stay again.
