we visited the Sand Bar to check out Rock King, a local music legend in his late 80s. My parents and grandparents have been visiting this place every summer since the 70s and always love it.
The bar was smaller, but had a nice addition in the back that provided extra room, so everyone could have a good view of Rock King (he plays every Saturday there). Service was great, our waiter was attentive and quick. In fact, all the staff were great. There was a $2 cover charge to get in (and I am guessing that was because of the entertainment, not an everyday charge).
The clientele that night were of an older generation, but we still felt comfortable and had a good time. Rock's microphone/sound system was having issues, but they seemed to work out after a while. Popcorn on every table (which got soggy fast due to the humidity, but hey, it was free!).
Parking was ample and it looked to be a short walk from the Lighthouse Inn (although we did not walk from there, so that is just a guess). Nice restrooms as well (which are sometimes hard to come by in a bar!) They served food/snacks/coffee and have a summer breakfast as well, I believe. We only had drinks so I cannot comment on any of the food items.
Rock is a local music legend and has a large fanbase who have been entertained by him for years and years. Some of his jokes were better than others, but his boogie-woogie still can't be beat. Give it a chance, and I think you will become a fast fan as well.
