5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

We were looking for a cosy B&B on the Cape for a 3 night stay and we found the Bursley Manor was just what we wanted. Sheila is a great host and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was very good with choices of fruit, cereal and something cooked if you wanted. This is an old property with lots of character and as such is a little creaky in places but offers a really nice stay, in lovely surroundings, with Puck the dog thrown in for good measure. Highly recommended.

The manor is a lovely house - albeit it could use a small facelift in some areas - and very comfortable and homey. Sheila is a wonderful host and she does make you feel welcome, giving you tips and doing whatever she can to make your stay more agreable. Breakfast is varied (she will adapt it for your dietary restrictions) and made to order, a great way to start the day!
We all felt like we were visiting a good friend. And of course, when we are visiting a friend, we do not mind their dog (Puck is very sweet), or the faded paint on some walls, or the small hair we eventually find in the shower. I usually am a neat-freak, but I do understand that the experience of a family-run B&B is not the same of a hotel (in the good and bad senses). We were traveling in a group of three people (two rooms) and were all pretty satisfied. If you do expect a hotel experience, however, do not stay there (or at any B&B, for that matter).

Room Tip: We stayed at the Wicker and Mad Jack Rooms and highly recommend both, especially the jetted tub.

This past weekend my wife had the pleasure of going to Cape Cod for our grandson’s first hockey tournament “The Lobster Pot Tournament”. We were going to stay at the same hotel as all the teams but then decided that might be a little too hectic. Therefore, we looked on line for a B & B in the area. Fortunately, we found “The Bursley Manor” with its perfect mid cape location, Circa 1670, right on Olde Kings Highway Route 6a, in West Barnstable. What a great find! What a great B&B!, we were welcomed in by the owner Shelia, and shown to our room “The Mad Jack” with king size bed, working fireplace and a private bath with jacuzzi tub & shower unit. Both the room and the bed were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Because we were the first of the guests to arrive for that weekend, we had the opportunity to get a personal tour of the inn. What an amazing structure, all the rooms were very good size and all equally clean and comfortable looking. Each morning we were treated to a fantastic breakfast, with choices of coffees, teas and juices as well as fresh fruits cereals and pastries. Being somewhat unfamiliar with the Cape, Shelia took the time to sit with us, review local maps, and point out various points of interest, IE: restaurants scenic beaches and antique shops in addition showing us the best routes to the various hockey rinks. All in all it was a great weekend, my grandson’s team won all their games, we had great stay at a wonderful B&B, and met two fantastic people Shelia, and her charming and funny brother “Bill” , AKA the aspiring “Asst. B&B Manager”. Best of all to both of you and your business, you run a professional operation with a home like atmosphere. I believe that all others that stay with you will agree, WHAT A GREAT B&B!

Room Tip: Mad Jack, Room ton of history.

I came to Cape Cod with a group of six women....all of us visiting for the first time. I want to
tell you about a wonderful and quaint B&B called Bursley Manor where we stayed for four
nights. Sheila, the B&B Owner was exceptional and had red and white wine out on the table
to greet us when we arrived...but, she continued to put it out each night for us! She is a
charming lady with a wonderful smile and such a nice manner...always keeping the guests
comfort first and foremost. The breakfasts were amazing with so many choices of either
hot foods..which included eggs any style, waffles, pancakes, and more and the choices of
yogurt and unending fruit selections, homemade breads, and also many coffee/tea selections,
and other fruit drinks. The rooms were each themed and had beautiful furniture...and I
found each one to be spacious (king beds) and the largest bathrooms ever for any B&B,
inn, hotel, or rental house I have ever stayed in! The mattresses and pillows (lots of them
to choose from) were extremely comfortable with clean fresh sheets daily. Also, nice large
towels and many of them provided. There were several outlets both in the bathrooms and
the room itself, so that my friend and I would each have our own area to use our curling
irons/blow dryers each day. The water was nice and hot in the shower and a jacuzzi was
an option in each room! We felt very safe and secure and thoroughly enjoyed our rooms,
Sheila (the owner), and the common living areas (also very spacious!). I would give this
B&B a five star rating easily and I would stay here again if ever in the area! Many great
area restaurant recommendations were given to our group by Sheila, and they turned out to
be some of our favorite places to eat during our vacation on the Cape.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Hibiscus room and loved it...great view over the patio and nice sunlight in addition...
