“One of our favorite places to dine. This chef loves to cook.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

The chef/owner is one hell of a cook! He makes just about everything from scratch and uses fresh vegetables and herbs. Mark makes his own broths, makes all of his own sauces and can make a mean dessert. You get high quality food with exceptional flavors. Reservations are preferred.

“SURPRISINGLY GOOD”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

We had dinner at Ella's Saturday night. While the decor leaves something to be desired, the staff was friendly and welcoming. It was a very busy evening with almost every table full. The bar is minuscule, about six seats and we felt like we were in the servers' way as they kept asking to be excused as they went by.

There is a wood-fired oven, which added ambiance, and the pizza looked pretty good. The pastas sounded delicious too!

Our server, Katie (a student at Johnson & Wales University in Providence) was perfectly sweet and attentive. We ordered the Fried Calamari which was good, not great;it was served luke warm rather than hot. My companions ordered a half dozen Wellfleet Oysters ($12).

For entrees, one of us ordered the short ribs special served over mashed potatoes and root vegetables which was quite good (for $30, it outght to be). Another ordered the breast of duck, which was also good. I ordered the House Ground Pineland Farm hamburg served with Tallegio Cheese, fig jam, prosciutto, caramelized onion and arugula which was delicious ... the hamburg was very small although delicious. The fries, and I paid the extra $2 for the parmesan cheese and truffle oil, were very greasy and not particularly good at all, so a little disappointed. We ordered a bottle of David Bruce wine for $49.

In all, the meal was good, not great, but good and a surprise for Wareham. The place was hopping, really, and the pizzas really looked delicious (I should have followed my heart and gotten one). I thought the prices were pretty steep for this kind of place and the tab for three people, including tip and wine, was almost $200. I practically fell out of my chair.

Next time, I'd order a beer instead of the wine but the service was quite good and the food was pretty good, better than expected. Overall, a nice dining experience and we really liked Katie (or Katy, not sure the spelling). She was very nice and we enjoyed having her wait on us!

“WOW! Wish we found this spot years ago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

My wife and I had a birthday dinner at a nearby seafood shack and as we passed Ella's we both decided that we would eat "light" at the birthday dinner and stop by the bar at Ella's to check out the menu, wine list and ambiance. Perhaps have a drink and some apps. As soon as we walked in the door I knew that it was a special place. The smells lingering from the kitchen, the decor, attractive and friendly staff all indicated a place we are not used to in this area. After much debate we decided on Foie Gras, oysters and various cheeses along with a glass of La Crema (amazing the have one of our fans by the glass!). The Foie Gras is decadent - lovely and fatty. A bit sweet if you include the tart in your taste so we left that on the plate. The oysters were amazing. Reminded us of Gigamoto's from Washington state. A bit smaller than the usual Blue Points and others typically served in this area. Finally we enjoyed the gorgonzola dolce (to die for) and a couple of Italian cheeses that were very nice. Accompanied by grapes and toasted bread. This was our first stop but we'll be back very soon to enjoy more of this gem nestled in between the fried seafood joints of Wareham.

“Outstanding pizza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014

The pizza here really is special. Wonderful flavor, texture, everything - a pizza-lover's dream. Also had a very nice arugula salad. And, a very pleasant ambiance that stands out in this area.
Service was pretty slow, so I was glad I didn't have to get somewhere after lunch.

“New Year with a twist”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

We had the pleasure of ringing in 2014 with the owners of this little treasure. To think of it as a pizza parlor is underrating it by extremes. New year's eve was constructed as a wine tasting-chef demo followed by dancing. The guests were enthusiastic and fun to be with, a very happy new year indeed, we were glad to be a part of it.
