“Great dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

We decided to stop there for dinner as we were driving by. We were trying to decide what place to go to on that street and noticed this restaurant was very busy compared to the others nearby so figured it was busy for a good reason. We were right, the food was very good and the portions were large. Very good dining experience.

“Authentic taiwanese cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

Was here for lunch. Very busy. Delicious food. If you like spicy food, this is the place to be.
Keep in mind that parking takes time on the busy Main street.

“Excellent and Authentic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014 via mobile

Delicious food. Unusual, not the typical Americanized selections. The Pork with Mustard Greens was fresh and tasty.

“Good Taiwanese Food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We had lunch here with some friends and the food was great. We got there early, which was good as the place fills up quickly! We had dumplings which were great, my son gobbled them up! We had tripe which was delicious and pork which was also delicious. The vegetables were all good. This is a great family place with good service and very good food.

“Freshly cooked chinese food outside of Boston's Chinatown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

It's not easy to find good Chinese food restaurants in the Metrowest area of Boston. However, Mu Lan, which offers Taiwanese style cuisine, is a little known gem in downtown Waltham. This is a nonpretentious, compact restaurant (seats about 70) with many customers of Asian descent. Our group of 6 went on a Saturday evening before 6 PM; the place was full by 6:30 PM with a line forming outside. We enjoyed the fresh homemade dumplings (pork with leak, and Chinese vegetables were outstanding; 12 per order), hot and sour soup, wonton soup (both were very good), Mongolian beef (!!), asian egglant with basil, Ma-Bo bean curd (very spicey tofu dish that complements rice), and a tasty pork lo mein. Both white and brown rice are available. They list stir-fried pea pod stems with garlic on the menu, but it wasn't available. Waitstaff were busy but took care of what we needed; they're not chatty types so don't expect much in conversation. There is no Dim Sum or alcohol; they are closed Mondays. Reservations recommended on weekends. We will definitely return to try some of the other dishes customers have recommended (see other TA and Yelp reviews).
